Allstate is the largest public lines insurance company in the United States and the second largest underwriter in the world. They are the largest publicly held insurance company in the country, and are represented by more than 14,000 dedicated agents, as well as policies distributed through independent agents, banks and other institutions. Approximately 60% of all policies written through Allstate are auto insurance policies.
Allstate holds an A+ rating with the A.M. Best ratings company. One exception is the company's Florida subsidiary, Allstate Floridian Insurance Company, which holds a B+ rating. While it is true that an A+ rating indicates that improvement is necessary, it is imperative to note that many insurance companies have been downgraded since the housing and insurance collapse of 2008, and that an A+ rating still marks the company as being among the top of their field.
Online customer satisfaction surveys do not do service to Allstate, ranking them at a 61% dissatisfaction rate. What needs to be explained is that online ratings of this sort often lean towards the negative because unhappy customers are more likely to participate while happy ones do not take the time to relay their positive experiences.
Allstate ReviewsCompany Availability
As you might expect from the name, Allstate is available in all 50 states. No matter what state you live in or move to, there will be an Allstate office or independent agent nearby to help you transfer your car insurance to the new location. Allstate specializes in auto insurance, and has more than 17 million customers to demonstrate their dedication.
The Bottom Line
Allstate is a safe bet for your insurance needs. Investors may want to research further before coming on board, especially if considering investing in Florida, but the overall outlook for the company is good. The company has made strides toward improving their customer service, and offers many discounts on car insurance that may not be available from other insurance companies.
