Rude and Hard to work with, May, 2019
We had a leak in our bathroom shower. I reached out to Western National and had Brian Schwab contact us. Nobody ever came to the house. I sent pictures. Claim was denied based on the reasons from what they saw on the pictures. They struggled to make out the pictures because comments they made were not what was in the picture (you had water on the bathroom floor-I had to tell them they were reading the picture wrong. That was the shower side). Nobody ever came out. I had to reach out for correspondence every time I hadn't heard anything from them. I finally got a letter that was very inappropriate and condescending. The last line stated that they were not interested paying to remodel our bathroom. We have finished basement right below this shower in question and they kept telling us this was a leak from when the house was built but not a new leak. I said, "if this leak was truly 15 years old, we would have some signs of water damage on the floor below--yellow ceiling, water marks, drywall sagging, etc). They said no. It is an old leak and we will not pay.
You truly learn what your insurance company is like when you need them to help you with a situation. We ended up on our own fighting against what we paid to have help with all along.
Checking for other insurance now. WE WILL NOT STAY WITH WESTERN NATIONAL AND WILL TELL EVERYONE WE KNOW. Horrible claims person.
Fine, if you never have a claim..., October, 2015
Had a claim for hail damage earlier this year, they were slow as molasses in getting me an estimate, then completely low-balled the damage, adjuster they sent was rude to my contractor, my rep. was also rude and short with me on the phone. I found out what they are really like, and it was a bad experience all the way around with them. I'd shop elsewhere for home insurance.
Horrible service, September, 2015
I dealt with Lee O'Brien and he was unresponsive, condescending and rude to deal with. I actually had to go to another agent to help me because he didn't return my calls - the other agent was very pleasant to deal with and provided me with a great explanation. I should have stuck with her because Lee was not customer focused.
Watch your premiums!, September, 2014
I select Western National because it was the company my parents had been insured by for several years. My wife and I had one claim in the past 10 years due to hail damage on our home (no prior claims). All of our neighbors with State Farm or Farmers insurance had their roofs replaced and had a hassle free experience. Unfortunately, my wife and I had to file several appeals and were met with extreme resistance by Western National Insurance. Only when we notified the Minnesota Attorney Generals Office did there willingness to work with us changed. However, our premiums have increased dramatically. As a result, I solicited quotes from other insurance companies. Every quote I have received from competitors has been for one third the cost of Western National or less. The quotes I received have been for better coverage, with lower deductibles. GO BYE WESTERN NATIONAL, you are the worst!
Storm damage claim, June, 2018
Agents have been difficult to contact and unresponsive. Took almost 2 months for an adjuster to evaluate storm damage. Most repairs I have had to self fund, still waiting to be reimbursed on hold backs. They are not a company who has your best interest in mind.
Cheapest option, plus excellent service on 2 claim, March, 2017
Shocked to see the negatives on here. Been with WN for over 30 years. Compare every 3, and they're always the lowest. Recently had two claims, and they were quick and very fair. One was a totaled car, and very pleased with what they gave me for it. Got check in <7 days.
Smooth Process, September, 2018
Process went very smooth, Representative, did everything he said he would, keep me well informed as the process went along
