There for us when we needed them, October, 2017
When we had a fire at our office building and completely lost everything, West Bend was there for us to give us the support and resources we needed to get our business back up and running.

Great coverage options for my home and auto. Reasonable rates for coverage quality. Uses independent agents which can shop and advocate for me. I’ve had one claim with them that went very smoothly.

West Bend Hurt my family, September, 2015
West Bend would not pay for my husbands $1300 ambulance ride in a no fault accident. My husband and 6 year old were in a not-at fault accident; a car pulled out blindly around another car and hit them head on. West Bend handled both sides of the claim. We gave them the ambulance info and hospital bills. They did not pay the ambulance bill. They tricked us into signing off without paying the ambulance bill. They hurt my family. I do not need insurance like this. No one needs insurance like this. I have home and autos covered with them and will be cancelling shortly if they don't make good on this situation. So far they smugly refuse. Working with West Bend on this claim has not been a good experience.

The reason we all have insurance is for those times we really need it. Some pay for cheap insurance in hope they never need it. Others take the middle approach.... reasonably prices and great service. That is West Bend. We have had to use their claim service twice in the last 4 years. Each time their representive focued on keeping my daughter calm and explaining what to do on the spot (thank God no major injuries). West Bend followed up several times to make sure everything was OK. Their dedication made a bad situation at least tolerable for my daughters. In fact because of their advice my daughter properly documented exactly what happened... so when the other party changed their story later they lost! I am sure on the web you can find cheaper insurance... yet you get what you pay for!! So if TLC, helpful advice, and amazingly fast and fair handling of your claim are important to you... I would highly recommend West Bend!! Especially for those Dads that want to know the claims rep is there to immediately HELP in a tough situation .... rather than find excuses as to why they will not pay.

I was with West Bend for over 15 years. In a span of slightly over 2 years I had 3 claims, 2 were acts of God and the 3rd and auto claim which they charged us even though the other person in the accident received a ticket for failure to yield. They cancelled our coverage and when I asked my agent to look into it further, he and I received a nasty response from a VP, which included a statement that she "knew" my teenage son would have an accident, even though he had, and continues to have, a perfect driving record. So much for valuing a customer who paid you thousands of dollars in premiums, West Bend!
Horrible adjuster, May, 2017
West Bend sent out an adjuster to assess our roof damage within hours, without me being at our house to point out the roof damage. They offered a nominal amount of money to "repair" the damage, but failed to note many critical elements within their assessment of the damage. They also had errors within the report, including misdocumenting the materials that our roof is made of to allow them to offer us less to repair the roof. We have a policy to replace the roof, and the repairs they suggested would still leave the roof well out of code, so we wouldn't be covered by any insurance company in the future. We've had bad customer service and aggressive phone interactions with everyone that we've spoken to during this process. They have been stalling in sending out the inspector to re-adjust our claim, and aren't returning any of our voicemails asking them for a response.

Great if you never have a claim. If you do they will rip you off. Use nada to see if your vehicle is totalled or not then use a different method to use as value of car. Still in recovery

Made one claim in 6 years. Hail and wind damaged my roof and even caused interior damage. Adjustor said it was poor workmanship when roof installed. West Bend refused to send a different adjustor to look. Claims manager refused also. In conversations with me I caught him in multiple lies. I'm forced to hire an appraiser to move process forward.

I have some issues with my foundation and have been trying to resolve them with the insurance for over 2 months. I was finally contacted with less then 24 hour notice that someone was going to come out and look at my house. I was told to have my contractor out there so they could give me an estimate. There was no possible way to get the contractor out there in a timely manor. They then said they would contact him. It has been 3 business days and they have not called him. I know 3 dbusiness days is not very long but when you look that I started this mid august and it is now mid october the lack of caring paints a crystal clear picture on what they value you on.

Home and Hiway policy at a great price, great coverage, indiviualized coverage and service. The claim is not over until I am completely satisfied. I have no problems with claims, I get money back and agent updates the policy yearly. I couldn't be happier.
West Bend Has Been Great, January, 2014
Our family has both our home and cars covered with West Bend. I came over from Geico and saved almost 100%. I was totally blown away on price. But their service has been great to. Really, our agents are great but West Bend always has the billing right, sends documents, ya know insurance company stuff. We had a claim a couple of years ago. Not a biggie but West Bend had a check to us less than two weeks after we called.

Had west bend for years with no claims, submitted storm damage claim and had incompetent adjuster so we asked for another and they denied us saying the pictures show everything. We called for over a month and even did other things they asked for but now they're claiming we must hire 3rd party people at our cost and then mediate from there. Have been yelled at by directors and now we are no longer allowed to talk to the claims department as we were told we called too much and wasted too much time. That's not how you talk to customers at all! Also was told that they don't need our business by multiple sources and that our request is a waste of time. I've never had a company that I employ talk to me like this and it's appalling.

Agents are not friendly and try to scam you out of money. When you question things they make excuses and put you down. Once I canceled they had the nerve to send me a nasty letter. If you have insurance with them I suggest you cancel before they take all your money.

My employer has West Bend Mutual for workmans comp insurance. Slow, poor customer service, rude, I had to do their job for them, dragged the whole procedure out for no reason, then after 3 months denied my claim. This isn't over yet.

If you are a company that has these people insure workers compensation issues, you don't value your employees. For those who get hurt on the job make sure you get a good lawyer because these people have Doctors in their pocket. They would rather give money to Doctors than help you get back on your feet. I was hurt in 2005 and suffered a crush injury. I had doctors release me to go back to work with my foot still fractured. Their doctor didn't tell the truth either. You better get a lawyer and a honest doctor.

I purchased a insurance policy with this company in April and cancelled it a month later. I prepaid 250.00 for the year and when I went to cancel it they said they were keeping 100.00 fee. I asked them where in the contract that was at. They couldn't show me where it was and said its under the earned premium clause. Pretty much they can make up what ever amount they want. Because does NOT specify an amount. I got screwed. Don't do business with this company. They are not at all honest and pull this out of there a**! Beware!
Worst customer serv, adjuster mistakes, May, 2016
west bend audits my company every 2nd year. It was obvious that I do not use other subcontractors, but do all the work on my own.BUT they continued to charge me for using subs. Asked them to correct that mistake. Couple months later they send me statement that I will be refunded 25.00. One month after that they sent me a bill for 160.00$! When I called and stated to them that THEY owe ME, representative said she does not know what I was talking about.
Cheaper premium but no coverage, May, 2015
Homeowners premium was almost $500 less per yr. I'm rethinking the change less premium and probably no or minimal coverage. Excuses for everything then I received 2 different letter regarding 2 different homeowners items coverage. One they are canceling ring due to lack of info never received.. Well it was never requested do.. And other needing pics of new roof of claim that the would it cover due to the adjusters thst were prob paid off to rule in west bends favor at all time. Excuses for everything or bs to avoid claim payment. Looking elsewhere.. I would not recommend the company .. I feel I need to get out before I get screwed for more than $5600 that my original roof claim was and their pathetic adjusters and excuses but good luck to people looking for new insurance. Look elsewhere or take a big chance ...

Save yourself the money and hassle. I'm not going to go into too much detail as I use more than 500 words. Customer Service sucks, underwriters suck the company sucks in general. Management very arrogant and they way they talk to customers is not acceptable. Wish I would have red reviews before having them for Auto and Homeowners Insurance. I till put it this way....we are contacting an attorney to help us fight them for something THEY shouldn't have done!!

Very poor handeling of claim, December, 2017
After fighting to get approval for replacement of things that were clearly damaged, West Bend requested that my contractor provide a detailed estimate (5 pages long) for the repairs. The response from Robert Meeker (West Bend employee) was a brief 10 line approval for 4/5ths the contractors estimate. West Bend failed to indicate what items of the contractor estimate were not approved and would not discuss the estimate further with the contractor.
This created a headache for the contractor, myself (owner), and my mortgage company who needed a detailed estimate of what was approved.
In general this whole process was a nightmare. I went through a similar claim with American Family Insurance 6 years ago and didn't have one issue.
I would not recommend West Bend to anyone.

Customer Service sucks, underwriters and management are horrible. Management very arrogant and rude. Someone called the insurance company and said we hit them, which we did NOT but they paid the guy out without talking to us, Raised our insurance because of it.
