Goodbye Wawanesa, September, 2012
Never had cause to file a claim so I don't know how they are about that. Their prices are good, when I compared. But after years with this company, I'm looking for another insurer; why? Because of their petty and ridiculous actions AFTER they over-charged me by almost $300. I was paying via bank deduction, 3 times a year. My last payment of $300 was debited TWICE to my account (on the same day and within a few seconds of each other, according to Wawanesa). This caused my bank account to be overdrawn (for which bank obviously charged me a fee). When confronted with their mistake, they not only refused to pay my bank overdraft fee but CHARGED ME an additional $15 fee for the overdraft !! Of course I thought a simple phone call would at LEAST take care of THAT $15 fee ..... but even with a "supervisor" involved, they refused to credit back the $15. Remember .... I owed NOTHING on my account, because my $300 pmt was on time .... TWICE ! This ridiculous rigidity and lack of admitting their mistake tells me what kind of company they are, and I don't want to encounter this if I should ever have a claim. Goodbye, Wawanesa.
good CAR/HOMEOWNERS policy overall., February, 2013
We have had Wawanesa car/homeowners insurance for about 15 years. Our experience has been nothing but excellent. We have had very positive results and they have always been very professional. Best value in the market.

I called Wawanesa every day for over a week and could not get an answer. I sent emails asking them to call me. They didn't. I sent emails with my questions about my policy and asked for an email response. No response. Something has changed because customer service used to be excellent. Now, they must be so big they can't be bothered. I am going back to Century 21.
Seems standard, but premium increases, April, 2018
I've had Wawanesa for about 16 years for H/O & longer for auto. No claims at all. No customer service issues, good or bad. But - premiums have continually increased over the last couple years, to the tune of about 25% last year, and 25% this year-very substantial increases. I'm moving.

I will have given Wawanesa a 5 star except that my premium just went up 3-folds because I made improvements in my home thus increasing my coverage and therefore my premium. I have no comparison.
I have only filed 1 claim in the past 30 years I've been with them. And they responded quickly and satisfactorily. My garage alignment went awry after a couple of earthquakes and did not open properly anymore. We called Wawanesa and they paid for the replacement. No hassle.

I am happy with this company but am always up for a better rate. I have never filed a claim with this company, so don't know how their customer service is.
