I called to understand Midland's Index product and their Marketing Specialist Mr. Jordan gave me over an hour to make me understand different options like distribution, loans. He custom design policy according to my need. I love midland staff. Excellent! Service. I am a cutomer.

My affiliation with Midland began in April 1996 while trying to help a client's family member acquire life insurance. From the regional leadership person to the President of the company, mission was accomplished!
Throughout the years Midland has maintained outstanding Home Office leadership; having seasoned people guiding the company through many challenging times outside of their control.
Midland has consistently maintained high ratings by independent firms (AM Best for one example), they are also an ESOP company, meaning they are employee owned.
Product development has offered many outstanding policy options for the consumer with innovation that surpasses the "average companies" offerings.
I am proud to be associated with a highly rated, well regarded and respected company that has stood the test of time since 1906.

Our Firm has bee working with Midland for 10(+) years. We appreciate the personal touch we get when designing a Case. Their product line-up is diverse and it works well within an overall financial plan. We have found particular success with their Indexed Universal Life Contract. Midland National is worth a look.

Midland National Life Tried To Cancel My Policy, April, 2015
Midland National Life Insurance Company (MNL) twice tried to cancel the life insurance policy on me after they found out I was in bad health.
I am a former Midland National agent and I left the company after I caught them committing fraud on their policy holders.
The first time Midland National tried to cancel the policy was in 2012. Because of a lawsuit I filed against them in 2010 Midland National had ongoing surveillance of my home and, aware that I was in the process of moving, simply didn’t send the billing notice to the address on record where someone was waiting to pay it.
I filed a complaint with the Maryland Insurance Administration and Midland National immediately reinstated the policy.
The second time Midland National tried to inappropriately cancel the policy was in September, 2013. We sent a payment weeks before it was due; however, Midland National did not cash the check and waited over three weeks before they sent the check back with the explanation that they didn’t know which policy it was for.
When I filed a second complaint with the Maryland Insurance Administration Midland National AGAIN had to reinstate my policy because they couldn’t come up with an excuse for what they did they didn’t cause people to laugh.
My problems with Midland National Life have not ended. On December 19, 2014 Midland National Life was confronted with overwhelming evidence of witness intimidation and coercive threats to cover up their criminal acts. Midland National’s response was to exercise their rights under the Fifth Amendment of the United States Constitution.

Dont buy, May, 2017
For the past 30 plus years I have been affiliated with Midland National Life. Late last year I discover a serious problem in the administration of a number of the Life products. I took my concerns straight to the top. In April of this year I was fired without cause.
If you own or our considering owning a policy with a guarantee to age 100, it wont work! Request an in force illustration, (you'll have to do this numerous times because they intentionally deceive you). The guarantee you thought you bought doesn't exist and will only get worse as you age. After we discovered 3 policies in one week in the territory I was responsible for I had my staff do a search for other possible issues. Over the next 2 weeks we came across over 1000 policies where the guarantee does not exist. Buyer beware..
Scam, September, 2017
SCAM ALERT!!!!!!! Midland National Life Insurance bought out my life insurance company, Clarica, where I have had life insurance for 20 years. The term deadline was up so my premium went from $35/month to $488.40/month. They said they mailed me a letter, which we never got (20 year old address) and that I never answered so they just started taking the $488.40 form my auto pay I had signed 20 years ago. Check your policies and make sure this SCAM is not being pulled on you. It is so easy to call someone and gather information but this company would rather just screw you over until you catch their unauthorized tactics.

I have been a customer for years, I feel liked I was ripped off because I was sold a $100,00 policy which only last for Approximately 20 years. Now that I am older my premium has increased about $200 more dollars which I cannot afford. My agent sold us a bad policy and I stated to her exactly what I wanted. I would like a partial refund or file a claim against this company.

This is an opinion piece, corroborated by many others online. This company has misleading business practices, horrific customer care and are just money grubbing scum -- a fancy version of a used car dealership -- no long term focus, just screw who you can today.

Tricked a family member into signing up for highly abusive and very unfavorable annuity using early "bonuses" to make it look fabulous.
Bamboozled someone who wasn't financially savvy, she really got ripped off. Long penalty phase with very high "early termination" fee's. Midland wou;
Amazing that anyone who works there can sleep at night given the abusive contracts they put trusting women/not super savvy people in.

Have had policy for years and paid regularly. Did not realize, as annual report they send is several pages long, that my policy would eventually expire because they were not getting enough from their investments and therefore my rates were going up, so instead of earning money in my whole life policy, I was loosing money. Customer service was terrible - took very long time to get to a person and then they were useless. Cancelled policy, but if I had been clearly told that value was going down a few years ago, I would have cancelled then.

I have an annuity with Midland that I am trying to get rolled over. The amount of hoops I have to go through for what has been a relatively simple process is outrageous. I regret ever having invested with this company.
Cancelled for one missed payment, July, 2015
I was employed with a nice 3 figure income in 2006 when I took out this whole life insurance policy. I was injured on the job and now live on disability since 2009 so I have been paying enough to keep the policy active without earning interest on extra funds. It's been 7 months since I received a statement from them that didn't start with "Grace period". I missed one payment in June and bam, policy terminated. I have to submit all new information to reinstate the policy. Horrible trying to reach them by phone. I did get a call back after leaving an email last week. I'm guessing now that I'm almost 10 years older and have asthma which I didn't have when I applied the rates will go up. I think it's really bad business to terminate for one missed payment especially when I called to address the issue the FIRST notice I received only to be told by the customer service rep that I was wrong… apparently I am lying about not receiving statements and I should have sent more than minimum payments and they wouldn't have terminated the policy. Looking for new insurance that treats people like people!! I've always made sure I paid when the first and only notice arrives. Seems like a scam, terminate then charge more to reinstate. A phone call from them would have taken care of the situation immediately before they terminated the policy.

we have had policies for over 20 years to cover our ourselves since we had a small business.This year the cost went up 400% since I turned age 61.At this time we have decided to go without any coverage should have went with another company.
