I was in an accident over a week ago and had to contact the collision repair company to find out my car was totaled. Every time I try to get in touch with my claims adjuster I'm told I have been transferred to a different adjuster. The when my claim switches hands no one contacts me and they leave the office at 3:30. Extremely unhelpful service.

The price is right but that's about it. Any time I speak to an employee about anything, I'm treated like an idiot. I don't know a lot about insurance, and I'm at an age where I'm starting out on my own. I'm the type that likes to understand things so I ask questions if I don't. But the attitude I receive makes me feel like I don't have that right. I called in for a free quote on expanding my policy to more than just auto, but decided I would need to think it over and compare other options. The agent badgered me about how I should really add on at that moment because if I didn't I'd have to go through the process again. All I wanted was a quote in order to figure out my budget and instead I got hassled. Just one of the horrible experiences I've had with Metlife employees.

Hey, guess what! If you are insured with MetLife then you can run a red light, smash into another vehicle and not be held 100% responsible. That's right! I know because I am on the receiving end of the accident. MetLife has decided that since I didn't magically find a way to avoid colliding with their client that CONFESSED to running a red light, that I was partially to blame. So hey, if you want to have an insurance company that lives up to the "I'm not to blame, no matter what" philosophy, then MetLife is the company for you!

I am on short term disability and I was suppose to get paid weekly after having my son for 6 weeks. Not only have I not gotten paid one dime but they gave me the run around ever single time with broken promises. Every time I called they never seem to get it right with my address, giving excuse after excuse, they didn't have the apt number, they didn't see the update, they don't have the correct city, they don't have the correct zip code. Not having a check for almost 2 months has caused me losing my apartment, the savings I had has gone to my sons doctors visits, my doctors visits, groceries and now only having 66 cents to my name. I now have to go back to work one month earlier so I can pay my car, phone, diapers, wipes, storage unit, uhaul, gas and every little thing in-between because of their ridiculous delays. But sure enough there is no delay when they took money from my hard working pay check everything other week to put in their wallet. If anyone is reading this and struggling DO NOT get WEAK! Fight for what is yours, they work for US not the other way around, WE pay for THEM! Not sure if my mother instincts are kicking in but they will NOT bring me down, I hope you will fight just as hard for what is right. God bless!

Cancelled a hospital indemnity policy pushed by my employer. Took a close look, cancelled in November. April recieved a bill for 137.45 threatening collections if not paid. This company isn't able to discern who are customers and who were customers! Still have not been able to find the right person to finally cancel this cancelled policy! Beware metlife.

According to "Eric" in the United States, vice off shore, MLAuto by policy and function cannot provide a complete audit or accounting of my payments to them. Specifically, I discovered MLA was double billing my bank for monthly premiums. The Philippian call center never sent an email as promised after spending considerable time on the phone. After 3 weeks passed, a second call yielded the promise that the department that could generate the statement/accounting/audit would call. Again, false promise. The call with Eric yielded a promise to send partial information and a new fact: that within a few business days the considerable overpayment will be credited to my credit card. Again cannot get the details in a formal communication!
I cannot think of another US company that would be so lacking in customer satisfaction processes especially when it comes to money. No words exist to describe such lunacy.
It all begs the question as to why I, the customer, had to discover this after months. What is the state of their internal auditing and fraud control. Good grief.

When I signed up with Metlife auto insurance, I signed up online with Mydirect. Little did I know, this meant that I was paying less because I don't have certain "conveniences," for example the ability to call a customer service representative if I have an issue. It is absolutely impossible to contact anybody from customer service because with Mydirect, there are only online customer service representatives, meaning you can chat online with someone. Although, half the time the website is down, and the other half of the time, there are no representatives available. Great prices but absolutely worst experience.

Thank God I am not insured with this company! I will only be reviewing their claims process. 3 months ago I was hit by one of their insured and MetLife has already accepted responsibility. The problem is the only contact I have had with them since filing the claim is the contact I initiate. Not one time has the claims adjuster gotten in touch with me. Hospital bills, etc have gone unpaid for 3 months and I feel like they are trying to make me sweat so I am desperate to take their first offer, which will be a low ball offer. I just wanted to be treated fairly and I in return would treat them fairly. They have shown this is not how they do business. This has been so poorly handled that I am considering getting an attorney, which in the long run is going to cost MetLife more money.

Horrible company. My son is an orthodontic patient and has been for two years now. I have the Metlife reimbursement plan. During my son's treatment, his Orthodontist changed names, and process, which made Metlife believe my son's treatment was over, and completely stopped all reimbursement payments. Metlife still owes me $385. I have spoken to numerous representatives at Metlife who requested I have the orthodontist send faxes proving my son's treatment never ended, which I did. They promised to look into this problem, yet I have no follow up or call back resulting in resolution. I then got the Orthodontist involved. It's been almost a year now that the orthodontist has been in communication with Metlife. Same story, everyone she gets on the line tells a different story about why they haven't paid me my reimbursement yet. Two of these calls, the Metlife reps did see that I am still owed the $385, but didn't know how to process it! Again no one followed up after supposedly "checking into it." Today my orthodontist followed up with Metlife for me again. This time she the rep would not give her any details, just said no funds are due to me and that's that. Her name was Daisy, she is a joke. I have all reference numbers and names of the people we have spoke with. All I am asking for is the reimbursement money owed to me, that's all.
Be ware of this company, especially if you have kids and count on these reimbursement payments.

You can count on Metlife until something actually happens. My mother was insured through Metlife through work, but when she began experiencing symptoms of early-onset Dementia - then things began going downhill.
She was fired from work for her inability to do the job, and was put on short-term disability. During the time that she was on short-term, she began seeing doctors to provide enough paperwork to prove that she isn't able to work anymore due to her extreme bouts of forgetfulness and confusion, and the constant feeling of being overwhelmed along with a lack of concentration. I could go on about her symptoms, but needless to say here's what you need to know:
If you're going on disability, it doesn't matter how many doctors have provided documentation that you can't work. Metlife will find a reason to deny you, and the only reason they need is one quack who comes up with an extraordinary 'hypothetical' reason as to why you CAN work. In this instance, our quack doctor said that my mother is able to work, but ONLY if she works a max of one hour at a time, with 15 minute breaks in between each hour worked. Need I say, does that kind of job even EXIST?
No matter, based from that exact reason, Metlife denied my mother's appeal because that one quack cited that she could 'hypothetically' work despite a slew of other more reputable doctors providing documentation that she couldn't.
My mother is now in danger of losing the house, all of her belongings, and going homeless because Metlife is a little too tight with their money and a little sparse on logical reasoning. They have all the legal documentation they need to help her, but they choose not to because guess what? At the end of the day it's all about the money.
I hope you'll understand that getting help when you're disabled will ALWAYS be an uphill battle because, go figure? The people that need the most help in this country also happen to be the ones that get trampled on the most.

Went online and bought car insurance through mydirect metlife. Policy went into effect on 12/2/17. Went to get tags on 12/4/17 and could not get them because mydirect metlife had not entered insurance info into the Georgia system. Sent 2 emails made numerous calls and could not get a response from anyone. In fact the last call I was left in hold for 25 minutes. This company is a rip off and a fraud.

I just received a letter from my agent saying MetLife will no longer write Homeowners insurance in Florida, They took all of my policy money for years, now they are taking their profits and dumping Florida. My husband was a MetLife employee for over 20 years so we had this insurance. It was fine, but expensive, but we kept it after he left the company. After 35 years we had two claims in two years. One was hail damage and one was water damage. Although they have increased the price of our premiums, I was loyal to them. Too bad they don't feel the same about their customers. We were cancelled because of the two claims. I know that is standard, but I thought our time with them would mean something. So, we'll find another company for homeowners insurance as well as our vehicles. My new auto insurance with a good company is less than half of what I was paying. Shop around for insurance prices - I should have!I feel like an idiot thinking that time with a company would mean anything. And, get used to the customer reps. because you cannot talk to anyone who can make a decision or actually discuss your problem. It's no wonder their financial statements look so good because they are much more concerned with their bottom line than with being there when you need them.

My late and I took out a term life insurance 13 years ago and never missed a payment. The policy was offered through Alvin School District. Monthly premiums were deducted from my bank account until after my late passed away. My claim was denied, because I was told there was a clause about not covering anyone over 70. Yet my account was deducted until after he passed away. Now my children and myself are left to cover final costs by ourselves. When I called to investigate, I was transferred from phone to phone and have not gotten resolution.

I was in a accident with one of Metlife's clients and it took them 5 months to resolve the issue because there client was not working with them. I called them several times and they never called me to inform me of what was going on unless I reached out to them first, the Adjuster (Cindy Marsh (800)854 6011 EX 6826) did not do her job at all. When it was time for them to issue me the check it was lower then the estimated amount the auto shop quoted me for, I contacted her supervisor Rachell Day and she also was a dead end. We have been faithful METLIFE customers for over 20 years. We have both our home and auto insurance and have paid them a great deal of money in two decades with no claims. Nearly three years ago we had a minor accident- less than $2500 damage which we submitted. Last summer our son was in another minor accident - again under $2500. The claims process took so long that the other driver finally called to tell us our insurance was not responding. Finally Met Life paid and the son who was in the fender bender has subsequently moved out of the country and is removed from our policy. Suddenly out of the blue we received a letter telling us our auto insurance was being canceled. We have no claims for 20 years and then when we need to use insurance they cancel us. We are happy to take our business elsewhere.

Paid this company for 30 yrs each month on time, never missed a pay for my universal life insurance. Payment is 72 a month, has been increased 2,635.00 a year plus the 72 to continue coverage or they will cancel me, now that I am 73. Paid them 30 yrs and they never said a word until now, the shaft!

Employee of Metlife used their company email, phone, and lawyer to try and harass me and others both verbally and financially. Confronted MetLife with the issue and no action is being taken by their legal department. Planning to sue MetLife itself shortly as no action is being taken by their lazy legal department.

I had MetLife for over 9 years they treated me like garbage they don't want you to make claims with them if it cost them too much they will find a way to get rid of you . They finally replaced my roof after fighting for over 4 years when our roof had been damaged from some small tornados . Well got a letter in the mail after the claim was approved that they were canceling my insurance. The adjuster that they hired after I was approved stated that I have a vicious Chow dog. The adjuster never even seen my dog just heard her bark and said she was vicious . I have six cameras around my house and you can see that the dog was never outside and she was barking to get outside. The adjuster even admitted to the underwriter that he did not see the dog and we feel he is being vindictive because we did not accept this appraisal of the house.

My life has been a nightmare starting several years ago in 2011 when I found out MetLife works with hitmen to kill Americans for their life insurance. Every single day of my life I am scared. I'm being harassed and told I will due if cancer. The CEO Steve Kandarian and the entire executive office and fraud department know about me, yet they won't sit down and as I offered solutions to their problems. They plan on laundering money. Being a victim of this crime is the most cruel horrific experience you could imagine. Every day of my life I live in total fear. I am being stalked. The reason I was harassed is because MetLife hoped I would collect on my ex-husband after they killed him. They told me I wasn't a true American if I said no. I was beaten, raped, had my car stolen, all my belongings taken and I was illegally detained by organized crime because I said no... I contacted the FBI. They haven't done anything. They told me to go to Manhattan. I did. MetLife turned me away stating that I had to make an appointment. I call often and they tell me Kandarian will call me if he wishes to, which he never does. After going to the FBI, they yelled at me and said I am a person who lacks credibility. They told me never to come back. Every day I am getting harassed. I'm told I will die of cancer or another means by 2016. If MetLife going to put a hit on someone put a hit on someone. Don't torture them. MetLife is committing crimes against humanity. They are a truly terrible company....I know you won't publish this. I wish someone would please pay attention to what I am saying. They are drugging people and forcing them to sign these policies, then killing people in the most heinous disgusting ways. No one will ever know the nightmare I am going thru. I have a tattoo on my arm and even that doesn't help. It reads: Life Insurance Fraud. I wrote some laws to prevent this crime. The complacency in the govt and in Wall St and with other people is astounding.

I may be influenced by the poor quality of the website in basing this review. It is the worst site ever. Down half the time when I log in. Additionally, calling in to customer service, they never follow through. I asked for covered dentists in my daughters area as she is away at college and needs service right away. Of course the website is down again. Supposed to have sent me a list. 20 Hours later and still no email. Also the website is really slow even when it is working... Only buy their policies as their are no other options through my company.

I had a Auto and Renter’s policy with Met Life for almost 6 years they kept raising my premium every year when I had no accidents with them and I had 1 ticket which has been off my record for 4 years 2 months ago I switched companies because I couldn’t afford it anymore they charged me a cancellation fee which I’ve never heard of with ANY insurance company of $460.00 and sent me to collections after they said I could set up a payment plan. I don’t recommend anyone to acquire a policy with Met Life Auto and Home!

Be sure to ask for any quote over the phone in writing. They gave me a verbal quote over the phone. When I received the invoice my premium went up $200. Elevated to a manager and she basically said oh well. This is what the price is. She said she would contact the service agent that quoted me and train him on this issue but would not honor the price.

I am purchasing a villa in a 55+ community, I am paying cash and closing on Feb 27, 2015. I do not have the title as of yet. Met life is my auto and rental insurance. I put in a claim on my Auto insurance when I was hit by a car in a parking lot, she was backing out, did not see me and hit me while I( a pedestrian) was walking to my car.

I took MetLife insurance as a benefit from my work. I totaled a car and had three rear-enders during my time with them. Every accident was handled quickly, completely, competently. My adjuster stayed the same. The final premium was about $700/month. I changed because I made the mistake of thinking Progressive was cheaper, but then I realized it was the same. After my period of bad driving, I felt MetLife deserved the same loyalty from me that they showed me. I regret my mistake in comparing premiums.

I purchased my insurance online after comparing quotes. Unfortunately, i did not know two things about metlife. 1: If you purchase your insurance online, you can only pay online through their site, they will not let you call in and pay it any other way. 2: They will "Mysteriously" have trouble with the website whenever it is time to pay and you go on your account. This trouble will be fairly consistently just long enough that you get a late fee, but then don't worry you'll be able to pay. Auto pay also has a habit of "Mysteriously" not working either. Chat support? Doesn't work at all. Text support? Never get back to you. Email support? Give you the run around. Call in? You purchased their policy online so they cant help you. Tell them about the issue and send them proof, they will have a "Supervisor" call you back in 1-2 business days. Conveniently, at that time all supervisors will mysteriously take a 2 day vacation, month after month. Don't touch with a 10 foot pole.

This is the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. They are literally incompetent. Their call center is out-sourced to a foreign country and the people barely speak English so it's hard to understand. Nobody is trained and you get different answers for everything depending on who you ask which results in serious delays in getting any results. THE WORST. AVOID!

I've been a customer of this insurance for almost 5 years and it has been a nightmare to try and make any policy changes every time. Online service is a bot that says "please e-mail us" and if you e-mail them they won't make changes unless you jump through hoops and get special forms at the DMV. No idea of laws or how automotive policies are in America because customer support is all INDIA based.

Paid for insurance through auto pay. Thought all was fine. Never heard from Metlife. Moved to new address, tried to log into my account and couldn't. Called. Was told I was canceled due to non-payment. I asked how that was possible because it was automatic. They said my card hadn't gone through. I asked why no one notified me ( I had the paid for several months) and he said they had no obligation to do that. I asked for a supervisor. She was rude and said I had requested not to be contacted by the company!!!??? I told her that made no sense, and that they had paid for a cleaning, and had sent me the bill...so not true. She told me she could sign me up for a new policy...hahahhahahha...no way. I paid a years worth of premiums and got ONE cleaning. I need work done...bad company. Rude employees.

While I was selling my old house, MetLife cancelled my policy. I didn't even know this until I called the day after selling the home to cancel it, but they already had. So, my home was totally uninsured and I had no idea.
Months before this, I had to make numerous calls in order to make policy changes after I bought a new car.
MetLife -- they're outsourcing customer service and generally aren't working for their customers. WHY would you ever cancel a policy out from under someone. Customer service claims they sent a letter. I don't know what happened to it.
So I'm currently switching my coverage to another insurer. What a terrible operation. I wish I never switched to MetLife. I only did because I have a discount through my company. Even with the discount though, I'm seeing that insurers like State Farm cost less.

I originally started out with St Paul Companies Pak II and when Met Life bought out St Paul Companies I was changed over to Met Life Economy Preferred Package and have always had great service from both St Paul Companies and Met Life/Economy Preferred.
