    Refused to accept claim. Rude customer service. , May, 2016

    Just bought a new car. Card was given to me by dealership. 8 days into policy my car was vandalized while it was parked at my job. No cameras in employee parking lot. Even though police who wrote report confirmed it has happened to other employees there they called me a liar, my claim false, and refused to help me pay for it. They were very rude. Manager included. Even though I have full coverage i'm stuck paying a $1,400 repair bill for something I didn't do and should be covered. Worse experience of my life.

    BEWARE HORRIBLE COMPANY, June, 2016

    starNational General Insurance deserves a 0 Star rating! BEWARE of THIS INSURANCE COMPANY. Recently my son was involved in an auto accident that was 100% the fault of the other driver. The other driver was texting and driving and slammed into him causing him to hit the car in front of him because they were both stopped. Our son told the insurance adjuster he was staying with his grandparents in Oregon at the time of the accident. Because of this detail, they are trying to get out of offering us any assistance. It will cost them nothing because ultimately the other driver is at fault, however, they have spent the last three weeks trying to get out of helping us with this claim at all and are telling us it's because the car was "Garaged" somewhere else. We have paid them thousands of dollars and NEVER EVER filed a claim. The first time we need their assistance, they cancel our policy and don't want to help us settle with the driver's insurance company. I can't warn you enough to stay away from these guys. The way they have treated us...it's hard to believe they'd treat a victim of an accident that had injuries this way. SHAME ON THEM!

    horrible, January, 2014

    this is the worst insurance I ever had. I authorized them to take my payments out of my account and they decided to take out double what I was supposed to pay. I got a new car and they raised me a lot. I decided to look for cheaper insurance and geico was $100 cheaper a month so I cancelled my insurance with gmac and now they r trying to charge me for cancelling..really??? this insurance company is all about money and screwing their clients..people are better off staying away from this company they are rip offs and a thief.

    Poor service, March, 2016

    Being a GM employee I made the mistake of going with the company's auto insurance. Big mistake. They were slow to process my claim (which wasn't my fault). They did not pay for parts they considered too old even though I had just replaced those very parts. The service rep was unprofessional.

    This is the worst company I ever did business with! They are now folded into National General. Filing a claim has been a nightmare, with absolutely an unreasonable offer and no negotiating whatsoever.

    The moat horrible insurance company I have ever been with in my 40 years of buying insurance. Agent asked that I bring in my old policy in which I did. He copied all info. Had me sign the papers. Neglected to disclose that he did not include my daughter ( so he could give me a low quote ) 6 months later my daughter has a accident, THESE JERKS REFUSE TO PAY CITING SHE WAS NOT ON THE POLICY. SHE DOESN'T even live with us. They had no intention of covering us. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL SCREW YOU! !!!!

    TERRIBLE CLAIMS, September, 2016

    RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS GOOD SAM RV INSURANCE COMPANY....ALL THE REVIEWS YOU READ ARE TRUE....MY TRAILER HITCH BROKE OFF IN ATLANTA AND THE TRAILER SMASHED INTO THE RV..THEY DID NOTHING TO SOOTH THE PROBLEM AT ALL... AND MONTHS LATER THEY TRY TO SETTLE IT FOR $1,000.00 THE ENTIRE BEDROOM WAS CAVED IN LADDER SMASHED INTO BEDROOM...WHOLE RV WAS CRACKED AND THEY ONLY PAID TRAILER DAMAGE AND CLAIMED IT WAS THE RV DAMAGE....THESE PEOPLE ARE STRAIGHT CROOKS....THIS INSURANCE INST WORTH A PENNY...IF YOU BUY THIS INSURANCE ....YOU WILL BE DRIVING WITHOUT INSURANCE....WORST INSURANCE I'VE EVER HAD IN MY 50 YEARS DRIVING...BUYING THIS INSURANCE IS PAYING THEM TO SCREW YOU OVER

    EXPENSIVE!!!! RIP OFF!!!!!!, June, 2016

    I was told I needed to insure my RV immediately (at Camping World) and they passed me a phone and offered to start my coverage asap. They set me up on a 1 year plan.

    I decided to shop their cost against State Farm. National General was 6 times more expensive. SIX TIMES!!! I called to cancel the insurance and lo and behold, the cost to cancel the insurance plan cost me the same as two years of coverage from State Farm!!! Then they proceeded to threaten sending my account to collections if I didn't pay their ransom.

    STAY AWAY! STAY FAR FAR AWAY! RIP OFF!!!

    Horrible customer service, November, 2015

    If you need to make any policy changes and you don't mind being passed around on the phone for hours on end then I'd say this is the company for you. It's nearly impossible to talk to anyone other than a bot and if you do talk to a person they just transfer you to another bot loop.

    Horrible Customer Service Ever!!!!, December, 2016

    Recently filed a claim because one of their insurers rear ended me. It was clearly his fault and they did not want to pay me for me to get my car fixed. I haf my 9 month old son in the car with me at the time of accident. So by law if you have children in a car seat and you are in an accident, you have to replace that car seat. I was told by one of their reps to purchase my car seat and email him the picts of the old car seat and the receipt of the new car seat. It has been over a month and I have yet to receive my reimbursement. I call and leave messages over and over again almost everyday and I continue to get the voicemail of this representative that is suppose to be helping me in this claim. He never calls back and quite frankly I think it's sad. This is the worst insurance company with the worst customer service. Do not waste your time on purchasing their insurance. They may be affordable, but it's not worth it.

    GMAC Since 1986, May, 2013

    I have had GMAC coverage thru the Good Sam RV club for many years and have mostly been happy with them, except they (and their subsidiary "Homesite") are no longer providing homeowner coverage in FL. I would be happy to renew if they stayed.

    Horrible , August, 2016

    I wouldn't even give national general one star. The customer service is terrible. My policy was paid in full and wasn't up for renewal until August 19,16. I called August 2,2016 and cancelled my insurance due to selling the car. I asked the agent if I would be charged anything to cancel and he assured me that I wouldn't since my policy was paid in full. The following Friday i received a bill for $33.00 I immedently called and the agent told me I was charged for a $50.00 cancellation fee and they deducted $17.00 in over payment which brought the total to $33.00. The agent said they would have to pull the prior call and return my call. I never received a call so I called back and another agent told me I was going to be charged $50.00 regardless to what the prior rep stated.

    Refused to cover legit claim!!, October, 2017

    We hit a large bird with our motorhome. Although we checked for damage at the time (none apparent), the bird cracked the seal around the windshield. All of the wood rotted under the dash and firewall between the engine and coach. The water never came inside the motorhome, however, so we had no idea that it was leaking and incurring water damage. $5900 later National General informed us that they would not cover the damage because we did not date and document the bird encounter, I have never dated and documented a bird hit in my life!!! That would be like documenting when a butterfly is hit. Anyone on the road near dairy country knows that there are large birds. Apparently National General does not believe in road hazards. One representative even made the comment that deer are only on farms!!! Do NOT use this insurance company! They are more expensive than others and do not pay legitimate claims!!

    poor customer service what's the point of filling!, July, 2017

    My car was subpost to be fixed my back bumper and my front bumper they started refusing to fix my car once it was in the shop and not to fix parts of my car that was in the claim. Why should my insurance go up of they didn't fix my car that I made a claim for!

    JUST LIKE HAVING NO INSURANCE, February, 2017

    We are having to sue our insurance company for hail damage to our RV. They wouldn't even look at it. The automatic response is no...long term damage. This is for a 2 year old RV. We got National General Insurance through Good Sam. We have had to cancel several trips due to having to wait for the legal process. There are plenty of better choices.

    Rude and unhelpful, August, 2016

    The policy we had with them was too pricy. I only went with them because I was working for USPS an they were the only company that would insure my vehicle while delivering mail. When I got a company truck, I switched to a cheaper insurance company. Our new agent said to let our national general insurance just run out. National general then claimed that they covered us for 14 days into the month after we stopped paying and billed us for half a month. When we refused to pay they hired a collection agency to come after the money. We pleaded our case with the collection agency, but they didn't seem to care. Now we either have to pay for coverage we didn't ask for, or take a hit to our credit. Crooked insurance agency. Do not go with them, there are way better options out there.

    Worst insurance ever, September, 2016

    AVOID THEM, GO WITH YOUR OWN AUTO COMPANY, DO YOUR RESEARCH. Purchased through Camping World/Good Sam Club when purchasing a new trailer. Should have put under our auto insurance. Filed claim for hail/ water damage to our trailer in Nisswa, MN 6/19/2016 (all in news) under Nisswa,MN 6/19/2016 storm. Denied, told storm never occured, we must have done the damage through maintenance neglect. Our truck sustained $5k plus hail damage (Insured Hartford,quickly fixed) supporting our storm defense. Did not matter to NGI. Should have checked there ratings, but trusted Good Sam. Pulling up Good Sam website. People who purchased as I did gave them 1/2 star. Same as us claims denied. What do these people do with our premiums? I have turned over to BBB. Will pursue every avenue possible to take them on. After a few frustrating phone calls, last message was we can at our cost strip the trailer down and they would come and trace the water damage lines. A person pays their premiums in good faith. Why do we puchase insurance? To protect our property. NCI is only interested in making money, not paying legitimate claims to honest people who put their trust in this greedy company.

    Horrible Customer Service, October, 2013

    My wife & I were planning an RV trip last March. I went to my file to get my RV policy & couldn't find a current policy. I went on-line only to discover my insurance had been cancelled in August of 2012!

    Why? Lack of payment. Had I paid? No. Was I contacted in advance advising me my policy was coming due? No. Was I notified that due to lack of payment my policy would be cancelled? No. Was I notified that my insurance had been cancelled? No. I had no insurance on my new 5th wheel trailer for 8 Months. I was never notified until around September 1st, 2013 from a collection

    agency. Only then did I learn that GMAC had sent the claim to a collection agency. In talking to GMAC, I learned that Az. law requires insurance companies to cover the insured for an additional week. I was being billed almost $100 for a week's worth of insurance. Some of the claim was for a late fee! Well, was I upset?Yes. I told the person from GMAC that I had never in my 50+ years paying insurance ever been treated so shabbily & refused to pay until my Insurance Agent in Az. was consulted.

    Was I a rare case? Don't know. Will I ever use them again? Absolutely not!

    WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.. WE WILL NOT RENEW , November, 2016

    My daughters car was damaged in the Hurricane we just had and they have kept us in the dark of what was going on with the process. We have called and still nothing. We called today and they told us they would not accept the claim. That is why you pay insurance in case their is a claim. The car was damaged by wind and rain in the Hurricane, we didn't know about it because it is my daughters car and she was away at her boyfriends. When she came home is when we found out their was damage from the storm. It was 2 weeks later. As soon as I found out about the damage I turned it in. They are claiming it was not direct and accidental. A hurricane is direct and accidental. I am not laying down I am fighting them. I have already lodged a complaint with the DOI. The practices they are doing is 100% illegal and they should be turned in and investigated for their illegal and immoral practices. You want something done about this company start turning them in to the DOI. I know my rights as a consumer and how shady this company is being.

    beware on medical insurance, January, 2017

    We got a 1 month medical insurance policy because our insurance at the end of the year changed and my husband was going on Medicare (turning 65) in Feb. The companies web site was not functioning correctly and it made our insurance from Dec 15-Jan 15. We needed it from Jan 1- Jan 31. They would not correct THEIR mistake. Beware also that they will continue to charge you a $15.00 charge monthly even though you do not have insurance.

    Their short term insurance is a complete scam. You answer the questions honestly, bingo, you are insured. Then if you make a claim, they spend months (6 total) reviewing every aspect of your past history. In this case, there was none but in the very first visit to a doctor they found a single sentence in the doctors notes that I had noticed symptom and therefore, I was guilty of a pre-existing condition. Seems I am a doctor despite me not knowing I was.

    So they denied everything, 6 months post facto and rescinded the policy leaving me sitting with 128,000 in medical expenses and little negotiating room since now they are all 6 months old and unwilling to negotiate much. Maybe this horrible company should do some diligence up front instead of giving everyone a policy, approving all sorts to treatments and then leaving the customer hanging with the bills? A complete scam.

    CHEAP but HORRIBLE , January, 2017

    Thats right, this insurance is cheap, So you might be happy when you first joined, I have had this insurance for two years. HORRIBLE experience started two month ago. Comprehensive claim happened two month ago. Kim was the person who was holding my case but before I receive the check, she no longer working there anymore WHAT!!?? It has been now two months after the incident that I have not received the check yet. They sent the check to the wrong address which Kim said the check was going to me but the check was mailed out to the wrong body shop HOW COME!!? Please tell me what I can do to get the check, the check doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the body shop. DON'T GO CHEAP IT'S HORRIBLE

    Best Company I've ever had, December, 2016

    National General Insurance and Good Sam have provided me phenomenal coverage over the last few years. I've had a few claims both on auto and home and they were both handled wonderfully and in a timely fashion. I was with state farm for 20 years and never received this level over service in all 20 years in 3.

    Stay far away, July, 2016

    They harass you daily by calling your cell phone even if you don't have a policy with them. And when you call to get them to quit calling you they blatantly lie to you and say they will remove your number but they never do. If they lie about this they can't be trusted for anything.

    GMAC IS NO LONGER DOING BUSINESS IN FL. AS HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE. HAVE BEEN VERY SATIFIED WITH GMAC

    GMAC Good Sam, August, 2012

    We have insurede with GMAC through Good Sam for our RV and auto and have been pretty satisfied with them. We have basic liability on car and RV + contents.

    Dissatisfied , May, 2018

    Claim filed in March still not paid and very hard to get in touch with anyone to find out where we are on my claim. Very disappointed with the way the claim is being handled

    Stay away of National General!, May, 2018

    My wife was hit and taken out of the way by another vehicle, I am today May 9 two months exact waiting for the full payment of my vehicle, it took 3 weeks to receive the estimate of repair or total lost by a company named MITCHELL INC. which is not saying that is being investigated for fraud by giving estimates of vehicles like mine, since they valued it with similar vehicles not equal and in the end its price was even half of what they cost in CRAIGLIST !!! The lack of professionalism of the adjusters is the worst, even my number was blocked when calling to ask about the status of my claim, for almost 3 years I never had problems, pay punctually and as a client I get paid in the worst way! not resolving my claim with professionalism and HONESTY, there are many complaints and little space, one of them is that they were charging me for damages in my vehicle caused by the accident $ 347.67 per condition? I deducted money for not having supposedly left the key $ 250.00 but the key stayed in the vehicle, still ask how they knew the miles, the odometer is digital, you need to enter the key and turn it to see the miles, my policy had two Vehicles, one is from this accident, they declined to remove it from my policy and I had to pay the next 9 months for it, even though I no longer had my car! getting a MOCKERY from the adjuster, laughing and telling me not to expect them to discount the payment for the damaged vehicle, today I am trying to cancel my policy and I find that I have to pay about $ 300 OR OVER to cancel it! Stay away from National General Insurance, as a client I feel cheated, robbed and humiliated.

    $50 Cancelation Fee in Fine Print, May, 2018

    Hidden somewhere in the fine print is their $50 cancelation fee, Thank you Good Sam Club RV insurance with NGI. Insurance rates unwarranted and theft by deception practices give all insurance companies a bad name. BUYER BEWARE!

    Worst insurance company in the U.S, May, 2018

    When other reviewers say this is a " Borderline criminal company" they were not kidding... I believe this company coined the phrase " Bate and switch "

    One star rating is still too much for this company.

    RIP OFF, April, 2018

    got insurance through Good Sam Club. Canceled to go to another company. Hit me with a $64.00 cancel fee. Good Sam Club told me not to pay. Nat. Gen sent it for collection so I paid to get rid of them. Glad I never had a claim with them. Beware of doing business with national general.

    My camper had a electrical surge i lost alot of appliances and the ceiling had a burn spot from a surge protector. Like a$2500 claim. They would not cover the claim. They made excuses. The company is one of the worst insurance company's around do your home work. BUYER BEWARE!

    No Accident Forgiveness, April, 2018

    Insured with National General (formally GMAC) for 12 years. No claims ever until last month. Had minor incident with our truck vs pole. No other vehicles involved, no injuries and no ticket. Blind spot incident. Claim process was easy. We received a check within 10 days for $1,080.00 to have repairs done. Just received our renewal notice our policy was jacked up by over $600.00 annually. Shopping for another policy but this minor incident has been reported and we cannot get a better rate as this has ruined our perfect record. Charged 3 points. Would have never reported this, could have paid to have it fixed overall for what it will be costing us for increased premiums for the next 3 years. Buyer beware!

    Poor customer service in claims/ripoff, March, 2018

    I was in an accident on snoquiame pass 11/3. Hit a freak snow storm / ice car in front loss control,we tried to avoid the car when we hit ice (on bridge) loss control of vehicles smashed in to cement barrier on the left side of freeway. We then bounced back hit tell in of cube truck( lift gate), then we than swung back to the left in line 3 facing wrong direction when we see truck moving at a good speed in line 4 , then they switch to lane 3. All I see is a big truck. Ford raptor coming at me , he then hit my fronted driver side flips around twice ended up slamming into the right cement barrier. When we came to rest in lanes 1 and 2 sideways. Ok his the kicker I called these people in claims They do not send an adjuster to look at my vehicle they just figure by the police report it had to be totaled. They don't return calls . Know the driver of the truck is claiming rearend damage and the frames is bent and it looks like a key it going to be approximately 20000.00 damage to this truck. I tell my insurance that I did not hit him in the rear that we were nose to nose. No one was given a ticket, there was a total of 12 spin outs at the same time. Ok it now March 12 ,2018 and no one has ever returned my call from claims. And they canceled my insurance

    Poor Service, February, 2018

    Their prices are hi, when trying to get a live person on the phone to get Insurance Coverage is the worse Ives seen in sixty years. I spent 30 minuets on the phone listen to music and has to be grilled by a person reviewing my policy, before I could ask for additional coverage the person hung up. It took me two hours to be screwed with for a simple request what a wast of time. Don't get insurance with National General / Good Sam insurance. The person on the phone tried to trick me to have my payment taken out each month on my credit card with out asking me, and when I addressed the issue with her she became nasty.

    Never had a problem, payment through escrow was easy, not sure why we they are leaving Florida. Hope to get some insurance at an affordable cost without delay.
