    Worst claim experience ever , June, 2016

    Made a claim on my roof and the adjuster totally dropped the ball. She told me to go with another roofing company after we had signed a contract. I come to find out after I signed and paid a new contractor, that the mistakes were on her side. I never got an apology or compensation. I will be dropping farmers after this nightmare is over. You just lost a customer of fifteen years and lots of money from me will be going elsewhere.

    Horable all around, June, 2016

    these people gave me the lowest quote when I originally needed insurance. I has to finance so needed full coverage. original cost around $90. went up every 6 months when rrenewed from 2-8$. currently paying 120$ never any accidents, claims etc. when asked y I was told because of others being underinsured or not at all (y do I pay for others mistakes). when called my agent he told me I did not have the right to be upset.originally signed up for paperless but never got the renewed insurance cards. could not open their link and they would not help me either. because of this I switched back to paper and they r charge ng me and extra 2$ and I still don't get my insurance card every 6 months when I renew. switched coverage over to liability only because I had to junk my car and a gap in insurance would make my rates go up even more. liability only saves me $23 a month . I did a quote online for progressive and their rates would save me over twice what I pay at this company for full coverage. switching as soon as I get a new vehicle.

    Horrible company, May, 2016

    I have been with Farmers over 30 years. They have overcharged me for who knows how many of those years. This company will rip you off! Customer service is horrible, good luck trying to get a discrepency on your bill fixed, no matter how many times you call and are assured it's being handled they blow you off. Canceled policy after 50 years. I save half of what I use to pay in premiums by switching.

    Do not sign up for autopay., May, 2015

    We have had farmers car insurance for 3 years before any problems were noticed. At the end of the year in 2014 our rates miraculously increased an amazing 50% with to notice by phone, text, email or bird with a message on its foot. Contacted agent and was told that it was our fault and they had been trying to reach us for a year. Why did the rates increase instantly if they had been trying to contact us for so long? Well, they make no effort to contact you personally so you have to check the website daily to find out what your rates are going to be that month. I tried a love chat with someone named Derek at farmers and I'm here to tell you that you are better off beating your head against the wall than talking to this guy. The most unhelpful, rude, conducending, and blame full individual I have ever spoken to. If my rates don't decrease to previous amounts I will be switching companies. Even if my rates do decrease I am going to cancel outpay and paperless so that I know what they are trying to charge me before it is to late. I bet I will get PLENTY of notices via phone call, email and text if my payment is due.

    theft and fire months apart, and we are victimize, June, 2015

    We have had farmers for a couple of years and in the last two months tragedy strikes twice. We are having a hard time with these reps receiving faxes,emails, and etc. They are claiming everything that we fax isn't legible. These faxes are from different places of business. They are causing our family hardships. Brittni Girl, is a crook. She says one thing and changes it the next week. I'm going to file a complaint because her and her team aren't caring and they are acting with out fair principles. Don't deal with this money hungry company.

    Poor service, October, 2014

    We filed a claim over 3 weeks ago and have still not heard when we can get the car repaired. At first the farmers rep said they would not cover the accident. She was obviously unfamiliar with coverage. Now we have been waiting to get the ok to have car repaired. Annoying and inconvenient and would hate to have been in a more serious accident with this insurance company.

    Shopping for better rate, March, 2014

    I insured my home with Farmers around 10 years ago. They offered the best rate for basic coverage. In those 10 years I have had only one claim. Resolving that claim was no more of a headache than dealing with any other insurance company - no less of a headache either. Now they want to increase my rate by 25% over last year & increase my deductible to over $4000 for the same policy. When I called my agent to ask for an explanation, I was told that Hurricane Sandy has proven that storms can hit anywhere & the insurance company has realized they might actually have to pay off. The premiums have been raised across the board to reflect this newly realized risk to the insurance company. I'm shopping for a better rate & a more reasonable deductible.

    Farmers Harassment, May, 2015

    I had two auto policies with Farmers, which were both paid in full through February 28, 2015. On January 8, 2015, I sent a payment of $418.70 for the renewal of both policies, but then later canceled both of the renewal requests, as I went with a different insurance carrier. Farmers only refunded ONE of the renewal payments in the amount of $298.14, leaving an amount DUE ME of $120.56 ($418.70 – 298.14 = $120.56.)

    When they refused to give me the full reimbursement, my credit card company reimbursed me this amount. But Farmers continues to allege that I owe them $120.56.

    Even though I have sent them numerous letters and emails explaining their error and why I do not owe them anything, they continue to send me statements - and now I am even receiving COLLECTION NOTICES!!

    Farmers needs to CORRECT THEIR RECORDS and STOP HARASSING ME!!!!!

    Professionalism is absent, August, 2015

    I have over 8 policies between business & personal for over 10+ yrs. with zero claim.

    1st claim: reporting cracked windshield took 25 min. on phone. Offered only wind shield replacement by their contractor who can't calibrate safety device - lane departure camera attached to wind shield. Promised to email details same day but no reply for 3 days so far. What's insurance for? I will leave Farmers and encourage others too. Dumb, stingy business practice.

    Much less than impressed, December, 2014

    I had a 21st insurance policy for years, but they told me that they couldn't cover my trucks now that they were work vehicles with my personal vehicle and I had to use Farmers to get coverage.

    Farmers insisted that I had to have separate policies and my insurance cost per year almost doubled (covering the same vehicles).

    I asked my GL insurer if they could give me a quote and not only could they include both personal and work vehicles on one policy it was about 3/4 of the cost. Naturally I switched over. With 21st if I was late in payment (contracting is not a steady check), they would terminate coverage, but farmers also sent a bill for additional cost and when I went to pay them 27 days after due date they already sent it to collections. Farmers as an insurer has been my worse experience with an insurance company I have dealt with in my 30 years of driving.

    Always get an Attorney When Dealing with Farmers, April, 2013

    Farmers will not pay. They try to delay and neglect until statue of limitations expires. You have to sue the policy holder personally to get paid, even when the policy holder is ticketed at the scene. Farmers claims adjusters do not respond and threaten to leave you holding all the medical bills if you don't agree to their offer. They should be investigated by the state.

    Terrible Service, May, 2015

    I had a claim with Farmers in which took 30 days to resolve.

    I originally bought Farmers home insurance because they had what I thought was excellent customer service. Farmers is by far more expensive than most, which is fine if they cover you in your time of need. I've been a client for over 20 years and had never filled a claim. I always assume you get what you pay for but this wasn't the truth in this situation. During the claim I was transferred three times to different agents. It seemed like know one knew what to do. I was finally put on with one of the agents. It started off terrible and the service stayed the same. The agent was incredibly hard to get a hold of. I would hear from her a couple days after calling multiple times and leaving voicemails. She took two vacations which was partly the reason it took so long. She never kept me in the loop. When the verdict came, they had every excuse in the book why they wouldn't cover me. Not that I expected to be covered but I expect better customer service. I thought that maybe 20+ years and multiple policies that that might mean something but I guess not.

    I will never ever pay a single dollar to farmers insurance. Not saying another insurance would of covered me but I expected more since the polices were 40-50% higher than other quotes Ive had over the years and a long relationship stating. The claim was small and was only a small portion of what I pay annually. So money was never the issue.

    Do not over pay with Farmers. Use Progressive, nationwide, AAA, State Farm, ECT.

    refused to pay doctor bills, October, 2014

    Even though I was hit, and my car was in the repair shop for 3 days Farmers refused to pay for my 2 doctor appts. That is all I was asking $218. The adjuster was rude and condescending. The policy cost is not worth dealing with unprofessional people only concerned with getting a bonus for not paying out on my claim.

    worst experience ever, July, 2015

    we had a sewer line back up that flooded our whole house. Took a week to get a call back after making a claim. I was told somebody was coming out for an estimate and next you know the people were tearing apart my house without anything being explained to me. my house is not livable now but they have yet to help me get a hotel. I'm fully covered for this but I'm learning I work on there time. I've been promised so many people will call me but yet only 1 out of 10 have and me and my family are in a house that is averaging 98 degrees due to the fans that were put in my house for the damage. I was told by my agent that it is monsoon season so they're very busy and he sorry that there's nothing he can do....even though I'm covered.oh but wait they do say that I can go to a hotel and pay for it myself and give them the receipts and eventually I can be refunded but for those of us that don't have the money up and go to a hotel we're pretty much screwed.

    BEWARE of FARMERS INSURANCE - ROCKFORD, MI, September, 2014

    I purchased a farmers life insurance policy, paying the annual premium in full, and was told that I'd receive the policy in a few days. Six months later, I still did not have a copy of the policy. I called my agent several times and heard a lot of excuses, as well as promises that I'd have it "next week." Finally, he finally admitted that my check had never even been cashed, therefore, I had no life insurance policy at all. I had to call and request that my check be returned to me and was assured that it had been mailed ... three times. I obtained the phone number for the district manager, and placed several calls, leaving several messages requesting a return call. To date, I haven't received a return call, nor have I received my check. I hate Farmers. By the way, the agent who made all the false promises is BENJAMIN KACPRZYK, in the Rockford, MI, office.

    Would give them zero stars if I could!, April, 2015

    My family has been with farmers for 30+ years. We have 2 homes, 5 cars, and 3 boats all insured by farmers. I recently submitted my first claim with farmers because another drive failed to yield while making a left turn and crashed into me while I was going straight through the intersection. There was one extremely intoxicated witness who claims that I ran the light red. Farmers did not look at the police report and did not go over evidence of the way that the lights are programmed ( I spoke with the traffic engineer from our county) which proves that it would be physically impossible for the lights to work the way the witness claims. Instead he said the only thing that matters is what the witness said they saw and therefore I am at fault. THIS IS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS. STAY AWAY FROM CHRISTOPHER NOLTE. If he is your claims adjuster RUN FAR FAR AWAY. He will do absolutely nothing to help you and he told me that it didn't matter if I had factual evidence, all the matters is what the witness claims they saw. After 30 years with famers we will be going to geico.

    ins rate increase , May, 2013

    This is an awesome ins co. but the ins rate increase is just too much. From 712 pr year to 939 pr year is too much for the same coverage as they changed carriers. I am on social security and have no other means of support , not even savings Just this month, medicare supplement ins increased, appraisal taxes increased and medicare insurance increased and homeowners insurance increased, yet our SS did NOT increase. Two thousand a month barely pays all these and utilities as is . We can not afford higher rates for the SAME coverage just because it's a different carrier. Thanks for listining

    WHY??, March, 2013

    i've been with farmer's for over 10 yrs and only have filed one auto claim due an accident (weather related in 2005). i understand the increase in premimum due the claim, but it seems that it keeps going up lately (either it's my area or too many claims filed). the staff is very friendly and helpful and i appreciate that, but i'm now in my 30's and it seems that i'm paying more than i did when i was in my 20's. looks like i'll be switching soon. :(

    this Insurance company is not good, April, 2013

    I renewed my insurance in December for 6 months then in March i received another bill saying they did not catch last year (September) when i sold my house it dropped off. Then i pay my 2006 cobalt plpd of 469.70 last month and now im getting another bill saying oh they forgot to subtract the home discount thats not my problem you can not do your job. I am moving all my (30 cars, Motorcycle, camper and home that i am closing on next month to security first they are $2000 cheaper per year. their number is 800-530-9225 his name is Jeff Zdenek. I will be leaving farmers after 16 years with them and they do not care either.

    i have my home and two cars and i think it is to high. i have a 2003 cavalier, and a 2010 pontic, and it is about $1100 for six months. i'am on disability and that is just to much.

    Our family had insurance with Farmers for many years. We inherited the house from our mother. Farmers had insured the house for 60 years so we went with them again. They cancelled coverage about a month later. They sent us a refund of our unused premium, and a notice that they would help us secure coverage. The Fitzsimonds agent was unwilling to do anything of the kind. We readily received coverage from another provider and Farmers lost a long time customer.

    Little money for big job, July, 2015

    I had a water leak that damaged the walls and hard wood floors, The insurance refuse to pay for the pipes, However being a female the adjuster did not pay me any attention. I have mold and mildrew in my walls. He did not even allow for the damage even after I explained to him that my pipes ar connected together and I knew the lay out of my home. Just like I explain to him the water had damaged my interior of the walls. I questioned myself whether or not to hire an attorney. Once the sheet rock was removed my entire kitchen, hallway , and bathroom walls was wet. The adjuster returned and took more pictures. I have an estimate of 10,000 , If angered me because the hard wood alone , and customer kitchen cabinet will consume a great bit of the 10 gran

    Cannot afford 35% increase every year, April, 2015

    Been with Farmers over 20 years. Last year they sent me a renewal with 35% increase. I called to complain and it was removed. This year same thing but when called, just got a "so what, everyone elses when up too". I cannot afford 35% every year and will be changing this year. When they do handle claims it is well handled but cannot afford their prices anymore.

    nightmares of agents.., October, 2014

    At first we were able to get in touch with our agent. At least for the first week.Very quickly it turned south. We were no longer able to get in touch with her for any needs. It tool two months for the, at actually get our address correct for renters insurance. Our names never got corrected for can insurance. When we tried to switch agents within the company no one ever called us back to switch. Every time I called my agent the line was answered by a magic jack voice mail. When I finally was fed up with it enough to switch company's I realized how ,much I was being ever charged for terrible insurance coverage and even worse service. I would probably even go with the general over farmers. Probably get better service!

    FARMERS INSURANCE IS A JOKE, May, 2013

    Had a commerical account with farmers. I had set up auto pay, every month there was an issue on there end i has to call every month. This was an issue for over five months each time i was promised the issue was resolved. Then i find out they have cancelled my policy , because they said we do body work at our business, clearly we do NOT! A farmers agent did do a walk through of our business before the policy was started. they have no idea what they are doing. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME .

    My business signed up with Farmers because in the beginning their customer service and pricing were good. However, now that we have paid up, the customer service is horrible because there is none. Our policy rep and his supervisors won't return calls or emails at all and we have been waiting for 2 weeks now with multiple attempts on our part.

    Claim filed when nothing was paid, cost us $$$, September, 2015

    We called our agent after all our neighbors were having their roofs replaced due to a hail storm. They recommended an inspector come take a look, who denied any damage (although the neighbors are 12' away) and then filed a claim against us that has cost us 3 years of a claim free discount. Their practices can best described as legalized crime. Worse experience ever with any company.

    Farmers is full of crap. One of the insured people hit my car then they told me that they were not paying for my damage. Wow, does not sound like anyone that I would do business with. Their representative was a joke and needs more training. I would not recommend farmers insurance to my worst enemy. They are a piece of dog poop.

    Was insured by farmers for past 5 years, then sitting at a stop light my 2yr old son and I was hit by a drunk driver. Who was also insured through farmers. I was stopped at the light after picking my son up from babysitter after I got off of work. I had 48k in medical bills and farmers only wanted to reimburse me 13k. Not even enough to cover medical bills. Finally they agreed to 60k still not enough to pay medical bills and another vechicle. They I formed me we could go to trial but they would make sure that the jury knew I was convicted of a felony 9 years ago and said sorry if this bothers you, but we need to save money in tough economical times. I reluctantly accepted the offer, but only after I let them know how morally wrong farmers is.

    2 people insured by same company. One was drunk one sober and farmers defends the drunk to make sure they save money. 2 more years and I will finally be able to live life after paying the rest of my medical bills since farmers said they don't care about their clients.

    If you are a good person you should not go with farmers. Because you might make a mistake that hurts someone, but the company you pay to represent you doesn't care if they take responsibility or not.

    Claim still getting handled.. 3 weeks and counting, December, 2014

    Their client drove out of an alleyway and collided into my car while I was driving through a main road, as I had the right of way. I have been attempting to expedite the claim by contacting their claims department nearly every day. My insurance company has been hassling them as well to expedite it. The problem at hand being the difficulty in actually getting a hold of their client to provide her statement which, as of now, still has not happened. Their lack of accepting the responsibility has led to me having to depend on others for rides to work (since the front of my car is ruined to the point that it is unsafe to drive). I am an active duty Marine who is currently a Drill Instructor that has a family of 4 young boys and a wife that runs an in-home day care. With my job and hours, I am extremely short on leisure time. So, the time this is pulling from my job and family is becoming more and more inconvenient. These and other inconveniences have been addressed via e-mails to their claims department, which included numerous images taken at the scene of the accident. It is now the 13th of December… yesterday marked 3 weeks. Though they had finally contacted me on Thursday morning (through a voicemail so I didn’t get to speak to them) finally accepting responsibility of the accident, I have since been trying to return their call numerous times, in hopes of being provided a rental reservation of any kind and the closest I got was another representative yesterday evening indicating that she sees the claim in their program but says the investigation is still not complete. At this point, my insurance already deemed theirs at complete fault and they had taken responsibility for it on Thursday. Yet, they still have not opted to provide me with any rental or any other assistance. I've been cooperative and respectful towards their company thus far. I feel absolutely disgusted by their lack of attention, competence, and care in this matter.

    Weighing my options, Increasing costs, February, 2015

    Got a call from my agent today to discuss policy going up again, in the last two years it went up twice for a total of $171 more than the previous year, it was explained to me that due to monsoon damages in AZ all ins companies were higher, but this year should be less as re-building costs have come down. Well not true, we have 2 homes and 2 cars with them, one was a rental which we took off the rental market, which should have brought the cost down, but they found a way to keep it up even if one of us lived in it, the price would not change, that didn't seem right to me. No matter how we get coverage the cost seems to stay the same or rise. What is the benefit of staying with one company? I am shopping around.

    have always had farmers insurance, over 20 yrs. Have both auto and home, had more than 4 autos and 2 homes so needless to say I've paid them a TON of money.

    Well after a power surge fried my new stainless steel refrigerator, I called their 800 claims number. Immediately was talked to as if I was lying, or trying to defraud the company. Then he says, well after the deductible, your rate hike, you might as well go buy a new one on your own!

    Then the icing on the cake...he wants to send a repair person out to "fix" it vs replace it.

    So after 20 yrs, no claims, no wrecks, nothing, one refrigerator replacement they are losing a top rated customer. The government needs to step in and take over insurance now too, not just banks because obviously they are complete ripoffs!!

    Not worth the price, March, 2013

    I went with Farmers when I purchased a new home because their rates were so much cheaper than anyone else. Sadly, those rates lasted only a couple of months. In December I was notified that my premium had actually doubled. Not only was this going to obviously increase my rates for the future, but I was notified that the premium was for the year. So, I was also short payments for the past 11 months. When I called my agent, there was no explanation other than "things change" and no way to reduce my rate. I have since shopped around and around and found that every single agency I have received a quote from is now cheaper than Farmers.

    Extremely Dissatisfied Customer!, June, 2014

    My new job asked to be added onto my insurance policy, causing my initial policy to increase by 600 dollars annually. I began to inquire about alternative insurances. Finally, I ran across Farmers. Johanna quoted me for half the amount. I gave her all of the conditions I needed for my new policy. Two days later, five minutes before the office closed on Memorial weekend, she states that she will now need to double my policy. She said she 'didn't know' she would have to up my mileage to change my policy to business use. Well her "NOT KNOWING" has cost me $300 and they REFUSE to waive my cancellation fee!!!! Even though it was their agent's mistake! Read everything thoroughly before you sign and pay because their agents are obviously not sufficiently trained and you cannot trust them.

    Last year I was told that I needed to replace the roof on my house or my rates would go up 30%. The roof was 20 years old, rated for 25 years - it was in great shape! Farmers never even looked at it. I replaced the roof and this year my rates went up 50%. Like my agent - hate the company. I will be with another company next year.

    STAY AWAY FROM MICHAEL HALONEN AT FARMERS!, December, 2012

    I received a quote from another insurance agency, so I asked my agent (Michael Halonen) if he could match it. He said he could beat the other offer by quite a bit.

    I went back and forth with him for two months as he then gave me one excuse after another as to why the new rate was way off. He thanked me for being patient each time and blew me off. Three Months later, I've overpaid by over $300, and he's done nothing about it. It is one excuse after another trying to get it resolved.

    I would NOT recommend this agency to anyone. I went elsewhere and have good customer service, for $50/month LESS. I should have switched years ago!

    Dishonest Business, Abusive Agent, August, 2015

    I understand that, as an opinionated young woman who's not afraid to speak up for herself when she's been slighted, I can be intimidating to some (especially those with guilty consciences). That seemed to be the case for Chris Drake (from the Las Vegas branch), who, when I called him out on being deceptive about the actual coverage of the overpriced insurance he sold me, decided the best course of action was to talk down to me, yell inappropriately, and sling a bunch of nasty verbal abuses at me. The icing on the cake was when he insisted he only deal with my father re: any insurance changes (I was 23 years old at the time, and the policy was in my name and being paid for by myself... not my father). What a misogynistic, spineless little idiot.

    Granted, this was a few years ago and I hope Mr. Drake has matured a little bit since... but I sure as hell won't ever give Farmers my business again and am happy to advise others against it.

    I promptly switched over State Farm after my uncomfortable dealings with this Farmers Agent, and am happy to say I've had excellent coverage and customer service since (and for a much better price).

    Jack Krzosek was my agent for years, but between 2011 and 2015 my premium doubled with no changes in car. I never made a claim or had an accident. I paid on time actually early every time. When I asked why it went from $491 - $798 - they said insurance is up everywhere because of the hurricanes. ???? Need less to say, I am switching when my coverage period ends on August 2, 2015

    My wife and I signed up with Farmers Insurance under the office of Curtis Szucs after shopping around and finding that Farmers would provide the best price. We provided our information (License number, social, vehicle information, all of the norm.) For over 10 months our rates were not as low as we would have liked but were still lower than any other insurance providers and we were satisfied with their service. This all changed however when we began to receive bills of over double our normal amount of the past 10 months. Although there had been no changes to our policy, driving record, vehicle, nor had any claims, or anything else our bill still had doubled in price without any explanation. We were enrolled in online payments so it the amount was taken out of our checking account every month automatically. (Had we not been paying attention who knows how much we would have ended up paying!) Upon contacting the offices of Curtis Szucs about this continuing over priced bill, a very unprofessional and inadequate woman whom we spoke with on several occasions, tried to assist us. On our third attempt of finding answers from this very "pleasant" women, she conveyed to us that they did not have ANY of our information. No license numbers, no social security numbers, they were not even aware of our driving record (Which was spotless and had nothing on it, but how do you insure someone for 1 whole year without even knowing whom you are insuring or their driving record?!) Upon giving our information to the women for a second time in over a year, they recalculated our cost of insurance with the same coverage, and it went up even more to almost 3 times as much as what we were initially paying. She could not explain the reason behind this outrageous price and even recommended that we cancel our plan as we did immediately. We did thankfully receive a very small refund of less than a 1quarter of a monthly payment upon cancelation.

    I had Farmers for years, but I changed companies for a better rate when my policies expired. As a result, Farmers sent me several letters threatening to send me to collections. They felt that since I did not formally cancel the policies, I still owed them premiums. I explained that I had changed companies. I was told that I would have to substantiate this claim by providing proof of coverage through the new company. (This is America. I should be able to discontinue any service I don't want) They cited some law or regulation that required them to continue coverage of my 3 auto policies, homeowners, and umbrella insurance, even after my policy expired (In that case, what is the value of a policy expiration date?)Since I wanted to resolve the matter, i provided requested proof, but Farmers was relentless. They sent a slew of letters threatening to take me to collections. My ex-farmers agent even offered to pay the required amount me. I wouldn't pay a company that was trying to steal from me, so I asked him not to do that. This company is scandalous. After about 5 months of lengthy calls, faxes, and letters, they finally got off my back. If you don't want to deal with crooks, and you want to remain STRESS FREE, find a different company.

    I was quoted a rate and had it all confirmed with a local Farmer auto insurance agent, and then went to pay, and they wanted to INCREASE the price by 45%. It was a Bait and Switch.... The agent kept claiming it was because I used the internet for the quote... BUT his office modified the quote when I call to ask questions and finalize the insurance.

    We were robbed and the adjuster made me feel like I was the theif. Some freaking joke! I will be canceling and from what I've read, we won't even be getting reimbursed by this fraudulent company.     Don't pay for this so-called insurance, January, 2013

    We had a flood in our condo. Farmers refused to pay to have it dried out and refused to pay for the floor covering, claiming it was part of the structure. The policy is clear and we will eventually get the money in small claims court but should not have to go through that. Stay far away from Farmers.

    Insurance went up 22% OUT OF THE BLUE, December, 2012

    My husband said:

    I can't understand how Farmers can accept a customer, based on the facts from the inception of the policy, bill for the monthly agreed premium amount,

    and toward the end of the 6 months policy state that "O by the way", this is whatever, and increase the premium. Deceptive trade practices? Thinking that

    they are big enough to do what they want? I am disappointed in Farmers.

    the Agent for Farmer's said:

    I am so sorry. I had no intention of writing this and then having your rates go up. When i asked who your old insurance was, you said The Hartford and that's what i used. Then when we get the old insurance cards/ it says The Hartford, but also has Southern County Mutual; which is a surplus lines, and yes, i agree with you, that Farmers should honor the transfer; but they don't. I had my week of school, and I'm in the office all this week if you would like to talk over the phone. You can also talk to the agent/owner- if you want. I am sorry again, and i want you too know that i did not mean to come across as doing deceptive trade practices. Talk to you soon

    Sucks, July, 2015

    The place next to us burnt down and Farmers will not use adjacent structure clause. They say the old neighbor was not negligent. B.S. it was an electrical fire with all kinds of scabbed in wiring. Another crooked insurance company

    stay away from this company. I had a loss and it took them over 3 months to process the claim. The excuse was that the adjuster was on vacation or she was busy. The billing is very confusing and very expensive.

    Good bye!, April, 2015

    Nothing bad to say about the auto policies but the home insurance.....that's another story. My husband has had Farmers for over 15 years, started with just auto. Then he purchased a home - about 10 years ago - and his obvious choice was Farmers. Started at $1700 which was good considering he (now we) live near the city and it's a rental property. He left it at that, never paid attention to policies/premiums - just always assumed his agent was taking care of him. Recently, he had his taxes done and discovered that for the last 3 years his premium had gone up to over $2700. We did have our roof replaced about 6 years ago so that may be the reason, but we aren't sure. He contacted our agent for this years premiums and when it renews in a couple months, it will be almost $3600!!!!!! We've already contacted other agencies and have been getting quoted under $2000. That is a HUGE difference. We know our agent isn't at fault and can't control the premium pricing but we will be leaving Farmers. House, 3 vehicles and motorcycle. Can't justify spending double. Way to rip people off Farmers! Just keep screwing the people who just pay regardless!

    Terrible/aweful, March, 2015

    I have been hit by someone who was covered by farmers. Took waiting for serveral WEEKS for them to let the body shop work on my car, they've had 4 different rental car places tell me that farmers says I qualify for a rental car (which I never looked into rental cars because I didn't think I was old enough). Once they were calling me trying to wrap up the claim they said they WOULD NOT pay for a cent of the rental car (had it for over 2 weeks) and after telling them that's wasn't fair he said he'd "talk to his supervisor to work it out and give me a call back" well that was over a month ago. I've left several messages and no word back. Now I'm left with hundreds of dollars to pay because one of THEIR people hit me.

    Moral of the story: don't use them and pray to God that nobody insured through them ever hits you (:

    Worst Home Owners Insurance Ever!, February, 2015

    We have had continuous home owners insurance coverage for almost 30 years from Farmers. Our experience has been that they usually find an excuse for why they won't cover this or that. We probably should have found a different insurance company long ago. We recently had a lot of snow for our desert area that caused a significant roof leak, which caused our ceiling to collapse! Besides that damage, there is damage to the wall & wood floors. Now I did not expect Farmers to cover a new roof, but I certainly expected my home owners insurance to cover the interior damage! Not a cent! Why in the world do I have to carry an expensive insurance that literally covers nothing!

    Robbed twice, December, 2014

    28,000.00 dollars worth of items stolen. Farmers did not even cover half. 11,315.00 is all they will pay. The robbers did it for drugs or because they are low life's but Farmers robbed me for greed, which is worse. Stay away from these crooks!

    Extremely Poor Service, July, 2016

    We recently filed a claim with Farmers for hail damage to our roof and siding. Over 20 other houses in our neighborhood had the same damage we do. All of their claims were approved by other companies. Farmers denied our claim. They sent out 2 inspectors. Both said the damage was not from hail. I do not recommend Farmers. If you have Farmers I would suggest finding another provider before something happens to your home. We were also treated in a very rude unprofessional manner by most of the people we dealt with throughout the experience,

    Farmers doesn't care about children's safety!, June, 2016

    A farmers customer plowed into 2 cars on June 1. My mother was in the car in the front.

    Both Erie insurance and Geico insurance advised us to get new car seats immediately, we assumed Farmers would do the same (being the insurance company of the driver that caused the accident).

    On June 2 we bought new car seats. Found out 2 weeks later that FARMERS will NOT cover the cost of the car seats. How does two other insurance companies agree that in any accident, car seats should be replaced, but Farmers doesn't agree.

    This is why I say, Farmers doesn't care about children's safety.

    42% increase in one year (obscene), May, 2016

    I have NEVER had a claim on my homeowners policy and I received a 42% increase in one year. Someone should go to jail for that. Farmers also raised my auto insurance because of one scratch on my door. First "accident" in 25 years and it was a scratch on a post and no other car was involved. DO NOT USE FARMERS INSURANCE.

    Complete incompetence, May, 2016

    Elizabeth Hobdy Jones(Gallatin, TN Farmers Insurance Agent) is just about the worst insurance agent you can imagine. She's all smiles and tells you what you want to hear, then when it comes time to follow through, she'll call you and say something like "unfortunately, we couldn't make this happen, but it's totally not my

    fault." She'll then act personally offended if you call her out on the mistakes and false

    promises she sent your way. I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy. My car insurance has been an absolute nightmare ever since I switched over to Farmers just to save a little money..

    Worst Insurance Company Ever Dealt, April, 2016

    I recently signed up with Farmers for home Insurance. One of my friends suggested the company and initially the premium was less than other notable insurance companies so I went with Farmers.

    First of all, they gave me quote for one number and when I finally had to enroll during house closing, they increased the cost for $35 for no reason. I had no choice because time was of essence. I had to sign up else my closing date would have been pushed further. Later when inquired, they said it was because of deductible. I tried to reach out the agent who gave me the quote. Trust me he never called me back. It's just impossible to get hold of these people.

    After 15 days of closing, I again received notification stating that my premium is high by $100. I talked with their representative. He says the inspector evaluated that we have shallow basement. How can a walkout basement be considered as shallow basement.

    In short, this is the worst company I have ever dealt in last 11 years. They have the crappiest customer service. They have people who have no clue how the home insurance billing system works for mortgage. I totally regret going with this company. I would recommend pay $100-$200 more and go with other reputable company. No way, I will renew my policy. They are just money suckers and don't value their customers. To get one call or email reply back you simply have to wait 3-4 days. They are horrible. Don't go with them just because they quote you less than others. The numbers will change anytime.

    Extremely Disattified and Screwed over, March, 2016

    So when I returned from BCT and AIT, I bought a car a day later. Of course I needed insurance. So i became a part of my parents policy for the remaining four months of it. Less than a week in town and I manage to get a job where I would live and work up in Winter Park. The only time I came home was once a month for my drill weekends. Soon after my Dad tells me that Farmers insurance has added me to all of the cars and our next payment in April is going to be through the roof because I had a couple accidents back in 2014. So I start shopping for my own insurance. I find USAA and am paying ridiculously less and they are aware of all of my accidents. They were super helpful and they told me not to let my old insurance, for a lack of better words, screw me over. I was told that since I didn't stay with Farmers for the four months and was only on their insurance for two months, I should get half of what I paid back and that should be the last I will ever have to deal with farmers. Well my Dad tells me that farmers believe that if anything I still owe them more money and that I'm lucky I only had to pay 365.00 I believe it was. So of course I'm upset. I call farmers insurance and they try and accuse me of driving all of the household cars so I can't and shouldn't get any of the money back and they didn't even want to let my dad take me off the insurance because I use the house as my billing address. I DO NOT even live there. And I don't know how to get that through those morons' heads. The workers for this firm are so ignorant that I will never use them for anything and if I can find a way. I will take my parents off as soon as possible. My parents have been using farmers insurance for about 24 years and they could care less about how loyal my parents have been. Honestly nothing will make me happier to get my parents out of their care and under an insurance policy that will actually care about my family and the value of our money.

    WILL NOT PAY ON A CLAIM, March, 2016

    Farmers do not pay!!! I own my own business that had some property damaged by one of their insured as a result of a car accident. It has been going on 3 weeks, and nothing has been done to fix my property. It was clearly the fault of "their insured", and they are treating me like it was my fault. They will not send out an adjuster to even look at the damage---never ever use Farmers Insurance.

    Incompetent, March, 2016

    I canceled my policy in February so it would run out in March. I got a confirmation email. I just got notified by my mortgage company that they did not cancel so they had to pay them. Now I am fighting to get my money back and to even get them to cancel my policy like they already said they had.

    Then she told me they did not have a record of my sending an email - but when I could read the entire thing back it seemed to show up.

    I just found out they will process the cancellation back to the date they were supposed to and give my money back so I can put it back into escrow.

    It should not have been this difficult. I had a bad experience with another agent from Farmers. No I know they are all the same.

    Farmers was there for us!, March, 2016

    Recently, my husband and I were involved in a car accident. My husband rear-ended another vehicle. Scariest moments of our lives. Luckily, the person we hit was ok. My husband has been driving for over 50 years without an accident, so this really shook us up. Farmers was there for us from start to finish. They made sure we were okay and also the other driver. They paid for a rental car so we could find a new car. The amount they paid us for our totalled car was more than fair. The communication and customer care was first rate. Thank you Farmers for coming through for us and giving us a reason to stick with you. We will highly recommend Chris Davis and his staff when anyone asks about insurance!!!

    Bad Business Practices, February, 2016

    I've been a Farmers customer for 10 years with no loss (so I thought) till they started to reduce coverage and increase prices beyond their competition. Shopping around I got aware that they have entered my information in a public insurance database for customers with losses and refuse to remove this false information. The whole reported loss was me inquiring 2 years ago if a theft was covered or not under my homeowners policy. Turned out it was not covered, I didn't file a claim, and so I thought case closed. Back then it was a pain to find out if my loss was covered since non employee seems to be educated to answer policy questions! Now 2 years later while shopping around I notice that they've reported me as customer with LOSS for a $0 claim damaging my reputation as insurance customers for other companies and actively refuse to correct their mistake. Thanks Farmers!

    Terrible Customer Service, February, 2016

    I was with Farmer's Insurance for 2-3 years. They are the worst! They increased my payment by almost 50% when I moved an hour away from my previous location. I tried to fight back on the increase but they insisted it was correct.

    I went to other providers to see what my cost would be elsewhere and found way better prices. I quickly found out Farmer's had shown one of my accidents as my fault when it was clear the other person was at fault. I called them to question this and they quickly reassured me they changed the status. I realized I was being ripped off pretty quickly and canceled.

    My representative was terrible as well. She rarely responded to my emails/calls and when she did, she would provide me with the toll-free number and had attitude. I hated calling her and was so happy to tell her I was canceling when I did. STAY AWAY from farmers!

    PREMIUMS INCREASE EVERY YEAR!, February, 2016

    We have been with Farmers since 1980. Our homeowners insurance premium has increased 400-500 a year for the past 3 years. We filed one claim in 2007 when we were evacuated for a wild fire in which our home was not touched but had to relocate for 2 weeks. We cannot afford their increases any longer. I found another "major" company that is insuring our home for 1,000 less per year and our cars for 500 less per year. Upon canceling our polices through our new agent our first cancellation request was ignored until I and the insurance agent both had to call them. Very disappointed after so many years!

    I switched to farmers for better coverage on our 5 cars and 2 houses. That was a joke. My agent Katrina Scheeter gave me a quote. I accepted. When the policy came it had less auto coverage. She did not lock in the policy so the amount I requested would cost me more than she had quoted. My son in law was listed as a my 16 year old son and as a driver on my policy. He was 26 and had his own Farmer's policy. When I tried to call Ms Scheeter she was only interested in asking me if I had heard from her husband, who was also with Farmer's, and had come with her to sell me my policies. It seems that he had taken their children and left. She wanted me to call him to see if I could find out what state he was in. She was not very interested in answering my policy questions. I requested a new agent. I only got a new agent when I was told she no longer worked for the company. I requested an agent that was closer to home. I filled out the paperwork twice. I finally got all but one policy transferred. After 4 requests I gave up. I had a claim after 3 or 4 years for vandalism on my rental. Farmers promptly declined to renew my policy. The amount they paid was around $5000 and I had paid them over $12000 in premiums. I had to argue that the garage was covered. The adjuster said he had to follow the policy to Michigan to find that it was covered. It was clearly written on my policy that it was covered but he could not find it on the policy he had. It was a mess. So now I will have to pay someone else higher premiums because they chose to not renew my rental home policy. (Other companies now ask if you have had a policy nonrenewed and it will cost you if you have had one that is not renewed.) It makes me feel like they want only clients who pay and pay and never have a claim. It does not work like that in the real world. Damage happens. If damage never happened I would not need insurance.

    What a joke!!!!, December, 2015

    Farmers agent signed us up took our money then cancelled us within 3 weeks. Said we had too many claims. Both weather related. Now find out they get to keep 50% of other insurance cost. Agent failed to tell us about that but not his fault. What a lesson cheaper isn't always better. Be sure to have agent tell you about all the hidden costs. Also found out one of our policies was covered by Foremost which is affiliated with Farmers. Get the entire story before jumping in. Dropped Farmers/Foremost and went with more reputable company. BE CAREFUL

    Policy ESTIMATES half of actual cost., December, 2015

    I submitted a request for a quote for insurance for a particular car and it was $1046 for 6 months. When I bought the car they raised the price to $1840 for 6 months. Agents very unresponsive. What is the point of giving an inaccurate estimate. They had nothing to say about this. Pass.

    I don't know how many times I have gotten a call that they messed up my payment and I still owed for past dew payment. Terrible service, and when I requested that I get a receipt sent to my email and what was paid every month, my agent gave me attitude. Terrible!

    23% Rate hike, November, 2015

    Although we have never made a claim, our homeowners rate is increasing 23%. When trying to find a way to lower the new rate, it became obvious that the rate increase was designed to get me to switch my auto and umbrella policies to Farmers. Sorry, I would rather switch the other way rather than reward bad behavior.

    Forget everything you heard and read this..., October, 2015

    Farmers insurance is absolutely the worst, most corrupt insurance agency out there. Several years back I was hit by a young girl driving her parents' car. They had Farmers. I immediately called my own insurance company and told them every detail of what happened. Several days passed and I had heard nothing from farmers. I was informed that they were still waiting on a statement from the girl. Finally, almost a week later, she made a statement that was halfway truthful. I was confident I would be given the money to pay for the damages. However, over the next couple days, she changed her statement. Then called back with a third statement, each one entirely different. Frustrated, I asked Farmers to come inspect my vehicle. They refused, saying it wasn't their responsibly to research.

    about a month later I got a letter stating their was not enough evidence to find their client at fault, which there would have been if they had made a good faith effort to inspect my vehicle. Clearly I was t-boned just as I had said. Fast forward a few years later. In a moment of desperation, I took an office position at Farmers. I had been unemployed for nearly 2 months at that point so I did what was necessary. There I learned all their dirty secrets and was dumfounded as to how they were still in business. The reason Farmer's insurance has such terrible customer service is because they are nothing more than an agent mill, bringing in any random Joe they can sucker in and slap some licensing on. They are taped to hit ridiculously high metrics, and when they fail (as 98% do) they are fired and a new 'agent' is brought in. Most only last about 3 months. Upon being fired, the affects are required to pay back their monthly 'salary', which is actually a subsidy or a loan, sometimes leaving them tens of thousands of dollars in debt. The contacts they've secured in their short stint are the kept for additional profit by the agency owner under which that agent was being trained. They don't care if the agent is successful.... They want them to fail because ultimately it's more money for them that way. Furthermore, the agents must adhere to a strict limit on the number of claims paid it. If they go over that limit, they will be fired.Therefore, if you are insured by farmers, you can expect a billion excuses if you ever need to file a claim. They do not caste about their agents and certainly don't care about their clients. You WILL NOT GET PAID no matter how legitimate your claim. DO NOT EVER WORK FOR FARMERS and certainly do not ever buy their over-priced insurance. It is absolutely worthless. GEICO, ,progressive, just about any other company would be a better route.

    Farmers Insurance did a great job, October, 2015

    Our property had a flood, and Farmers took care of the entire replacement. They were very generous with having us in temp quarters., and had us back home asap. I highly recommend Farmers. The claims rep. was very caring and cooperative.

    Insurance went up by 50%, October, 2015

    Within a year of having farmers my insurance rate went up by 50% i was overpaying everymonth and had no vaiolations or claims filed with them.. I cant realize how much it would go up if i had a claim... Costumer service couldnt help me they didnt want to work with me so i had to change the insurance.

    Policy was sold from AIG to 21st to farmers, July, 2015

    In over 12 yrs of coverage and 0 claims, I had a hit and run and when it came time to fixing my car. I got hastled, a run around and phone reps who played games with me and would end the conversation on the recorded line and call me back on an unrecorded line. Extremely unprofessional. Submitting a written claim to the VP didn't help. He forwarded my letter to a customer service rep who ignored all my complaints and claimed that I was only with the company for 9 instead of 12 yrs. Seriously? sad to see such unprofessional and unacceptable response. I will file a complaint with the supervising board.

    Insurance adjustors were not easy to get a hold of and rarely returned phone calls. Had to contact supervisor on several occasions just to be able to speak with someone. It took over a week for them to send an adjustor out to the premises and then he never showed up for the scheduled appointment. Had to again contact supervisor to get someone out to look at condo in order to get the soot cleaned. Their inconsistency, lack of response and customer service are completely unprofessional.

    We had a flood in our Office building some months back. Our agent from Liberty Mutual came out to property next day to inspect and had an estimate within days. The flood was a result from a faulty sump pump which was the responsibility of our HOA which was deemed liable. Unfortunately, Farmers is the HOA's insurer. David Hinkle, the Senior Claims Representative never came out or had another rep from Farmers inspect the damage to our office suite. The result, a very low ball final estimate. They also took some figures from Liberty Mutual rather than coming out to property. It was basically a desk estimate. Sad. It was like dealing with the "Keystone Cops." How lazy can an agent/company be? In a final word. INEPT!

    would give no stars if possible, April, 2015

    Switched from state farm to farmers because agent qouted me the "same policy" that i had for $50 less a month. Which was broad form collision, and a rental reimbursement. Had problems getting policy printer was told trust me ill get it to you. 2 months of not returning calls i get hit at a red light. Guess what, no broad collision so now im out the deductible. Oh and i have to pay for car rental too. 3 weeks of no return calls later and im back with state farm. The policy i wanted was $200 more than what i was quoted...nice try farmers go back to the insurance school from the commercial!

    Worst Claims service I have ever experienced, July, 2014

    For a company that prides themselves on "award winning claims service", I have had the worst experience with my most recent claim.

    In early May I had a contractor out to my house to look at my roof as I was getting ready to sell my house. He told me here was significant storm damage and my insurance company would be able to provide me a new roof.

    The adjuster examined the roof, determined they would replace 99 shingles, but would not approve the new roof. Fine, thought I was done.

    A week after the contractor finished my roof started leaking. I got a new contractor, who also told me I had significant storm damage. I re-opened the claim and the adjuster still would not approve a new roof, nor would she come out to re-evaluate the situation. I called her supervisor and request a new adjuster.

    The new adjuster came out (10 days later). Told my contractor he would be there at 10:30, showed up 30 minutes early, so the contractor had to rush over to my house to meet him. This time the new roof was approved.

    That was ten days ago, since then I have received several excuses to tell me why he hasn't completed my estimate. (Vacation, too busy, computer problems) I do not get timely responses to my inquiries, and he does not complete any task in the time frames he tells me and I still do not have an estimate.

    I have had a tarp on my roof for over a month. I still can't even get my house on the market to sell it and my stress level has gone through the roof. I will never work with Farmer's again. This has been the worst customer service experience I have ever dealt with.

    My actual agent is very nice though, once I got her involved, I have seen more progress in the last 4 hours then I have in the last ten days.

    outrageously expensive, June, 2014

    Framers is raising their prices by the minute. My policy went up $500 in 2 years.this is 50% increase. wow. I have no claim. Just switched to Travelers and it is $600 less for the same coverage.

    I have been with Farmers since I was 16 (1984) with my auto policy. They have provided excellent service but they have been on the expensive side and money is just to tight right now. I can save over $600.00 with a different policy.

    21st century insurance merged with these idiots and \i had to go along with it. No accidents, no tickets for so many years and had to file a claim on \july 12th, and three weeks later, I still have not been able to speak to the adjustor \Johua Oaks, after leaving countless voicemails and sending emails!They have the right to cancel your policy if your payment is late, but as a customer, I have to make every effort and not get any answers! Frustrating, unprofessional, and frustrating! i am switching as soon as this claim is resolved!

    Failure of Good Faith and Fair Dealing, June, 2013

    I carry both car and homeowner's insurance with Farmers's. I have not had a claim on either until recently a small rainstorm came over and a tree on my property fell over into a neighbor's property damaging a shed, the fence and other miscellaneous property. The other neighbor was also insured for car and home with Farmer's. I filed a claim with Farmer's Homeowner's and it took them over a week to send an adjuster out which is absurd as there was not a calamitous storm involved. Additionally, from the outset, the adjuster on the phone was not the least concerned with either party but was only concerned in trying to find ways to weasel out of the claim to save Farmer's money. Additionally, the adjuster belittled me to my face and talked down to me and accused me of manufacturing negligence. FARMERS IS NOT A REPUTABLE COMPANY IN MY ESTIMATION OF THEM. I intend to cancel my homeowner's insurance with Farmer's as soon as this matter is resolved. I will make the other person whole, out of my own pocket, because it is the right thing to do. Farmers does not care in the least about it's policyholder's and will not, in good faith, honor their contractual obligations, in my opinion. It is my belief that the Farmer's Claim Adjuster did not act with Good Faith and Fair Dealing as required by Law. There is no point in paying premiums to an insurance company that has already decided to deny a claim even before any pertinent facts have been presented to them.

    I'm very satisfied with my Insurance company as well as my son who is on the policy with me. We never had any problems nor filed any claims so our insurance is in good standing. I don't feel at this time I want or need to make a change.     Worst Insurance Company Ever, February, 2016

    I have had several insurance companies in my life, but none as bad as Farmers. I had the insurance for about a month before I decided to switch because I didn't trust them anymore. In the one month I was insured with them here is a list of problems: Couldn't log into my account online for first 2 weeks-had to submit my own cancellation policy to my old insurance company-Didn't receive all my id cards right away, had to call to have them emailed-Had cars inspected for collision insurance by local garage, and had farmers agent calling me saying I didn't do it twice-Had farmers raise my car insurance saying I didn't have anti theft devices, when both vehicles have factory installed alarms- Had farmers raise my homeowners insurance by over $200 . All this in 1 month. Case closed!!

    Don't buy insurance from farmers of Salem, September, 2016

    They will drop you for any reason and won't even let you know if there is a problem that will cause you to be dropped let alone give you prior notice so that you can address the problem. I would hate to think what would happen if I turned in a claim.

    Dont Get Farmers!, September, 2016

    I had been a farmers customer for over 5 years because it was one of the cheaper options when chose them. Every year the price of the insurance was steadily increasing. I started at around 175 per month for 3 vehicles full coverage. I had my coverage slightly higher than what the law required. The last time I went to re-new they had increased my monthly payment to 275 per month and i had lowered one of my vehicles to just liability because of the increasing cost. They told me that the reason for this was due to the high amount of accidents people were having on the road, so basically my rate was increasing even though i had never filed a claim with them or been in an accident. I told them i had enough and went insurance shopping and was able to find a different company that included all of my vehicles at full coverage, the coverage was even better (higher amounts) and the rate was very pleasing at 160 per month. Big difference! Stay away from farmers. Not to mention they also did this to my parents who switched to the same company i have now. Their rate went from 270 to 110 a month and they were able to get more coverage on their vehicles as well. Take the advice or leave it im just trying to help. Not trying to promote any insurance company which is why i will only mention it starts with a G

    Unresponsive Agent, September, 2016

    For 15 years I have had auto insurance on two cars with Brian Bertoli Farmers agent in Santa Rosa CA. My Subaru WRX 5door liftback was classified as a "performance sports car" subjected to increased premiums. My driving record (I'm 76!) is perfect over the past 5 years and beyond. My Agent emailed his opinion on why Farmers increased the premium. I requested that he provide the information from Farmers which states the rational for raising the premium. And a list of autos in the "performance sports car " category. Both my Farmers Agent and District Manager in Northern California refused to provide the information. I now have a complaint standing with the California Department of Insurance. It's is illegal for any public company in California to refuse to provide an explanation of policy information to a customer. This is the kind of treatment a customer of 15 years gets when requesting LEGAL information. I would suggest no one deal with Farmers and I will be canceling insurance with them very soon. A automobile does NOT get VIOLATIONS. A DRIVER DOES!!!!! That apparently does not concern Farmers when they choose to extort money from a long term customer.

    Farmers not willing to service my accident !!, September, 2016

    Was in a car accident and after 3 weeks and over 3 Farmers Investigators attending to my accident. I was told to pay out of pocket to get my car out of wrecker yard / not fixed to save them some money. I am driving a broken car with a big dent !!

    Home owner with Horrible Claim Experience, July, 2016

    I have the most worst experience when I file for homeowner insurance claim. I have never file any homeowner insurance claim for my primary residence. When I filed claim, I carefully confirmed every step that I need do with the insurance adjuster. At the end, Farmers insurance adjuster determined that the water damage in my home won't be covered. I hired a licensed plummer, who is the expert, he told me that all other insurance covers the water damage. Out of frustration, I contacted the supervisor and claim department. The supervisor stated what adjuster told me. I contacted claim department the claim department only allowed to give me the supervisors phone number, they will not do anything. When I talk to my assurance agent about my frustration, he told me that there is nothing he can do to help me. We have been with Farms Homeowner Insurance for long time, this is how they trade their customers. Stay with farmers or not judge for yourself.

    I was with Nationwide for 28 years and was seriously overpaying for the same coverage as I now have with Farmers. I saved over $800.00/year by switching. Unfortunately, I hit a deer within 3 months of changing to Farmer's but was given no hassle! They fixed my vehicle 1,2,3 and now had to use my roadside assistance- with no hassle.     I have been with other insurance companies in my 15 years of driving and Farmers beats all of them my a long shot. I unfortunately have been targeted for 3 hits while my car was in a parking space two were hit and runs! Each time I submitted my claims online and literally within 60 seconds of hitting submit my phone would ring with a friendly, helpful agent there to assist me! Incredible! The process was painless and I have been happy with each of my experiences. I love this insurance company and will continue to use them.

    Would not cover sewage leak with flood insurance, September, 2015

    I have been a loyal customer with Farmers insurance for 6 years. When I submitted a claim for a severed sewage line they denied it. They stated the severed line had not been discovered in time (~2 wks) and they would not cover any cleanup or repairs. Seems ridiculous that flood insurance does not cover a cracked sewage line.

    I then went to cancel my insurance and they put me on hold for 10 minutes. I wish I had given my money to a more reputable company that stands behind they're word for the past 6 years. I highly recommend a choosing different agency.

    Good luck finding an agent that isn't terrible. I have been with Farmers since 2003 in Colorado Springs with two different agents. After being they would always review my policy for discounts, I found I spend most of my time correcting their oversights and receiving rate increases even though I haven't made claims. Good luck waiting for a return phone call. Go with ANY other company.

    Bad billing practices, July, 2015

    I was with farmers auto insurance for 10 years and was very happy with my agent but never happy with the farmers as a company. only reason I stayed was because my agent would handle any issues i had with the company. Farmers has a lack of costumer service and they are limited online access. Main problems I had were the my bills would show up late or not at and could not get any help from costumer service. I left to company when I received a cancellations notice, posted dated a week after I was cancelled. The company has my address, phone, and email. I would pay six months at time and I would tell farmers if they can not get a bill to me, I would not remember to pay it. When I left the company I owed a small amount which they sent to collection without receiving a letter, phone call, or a email. Ironic I still get Farmers news letter.

    John Parker in Plano TX made changes to our policy without notifying us, sent us a bill 10 months after we paid our policy in full, and wanted us to pay for mistakes his office made. He quoted us a low price, got our business, and then made changes and sent us a bill 10 months after the fact. Bait and switch.

    Great Agent, Great Company, April, 2015

    I switched to Farmers because of the Agent and it turns out Farmers is a great company too. Claims is smooth and easy to deal with. I hit a deer and my car was fixed later that week and ive also had a couple tows from them with no hassles at all. My premium was lower than State Farm too! Customer Service is of course better any time you have an agent, but my Agent I feel has gone above and Beyond for me. I recommend Farmers to everybody.

    Terrible/aweful, March, 2015

    I have been hit by someone who was covered by farmers. Took waiting for serveral WEEKS for them to let the body shop work on my car, they've had 4 different rental car places tell me that farmers says I qualify for a rental car (which I never looked into rental cars because I didn't think I was old enough). Once they were calling me trying to wrap up the claim they said they WOULD NOT pay for a cent of the rental car (had it for over 2 weeks) and after telling them that's wasn't fair he said he'd "talk to his supervisor to work it out and give me a call back" well that was over a month ago. I've left several messages and no word back. Now I'm left with hundreds of dollars to pay because one of THEIR people hit me.

    Moral of the story: don't use them and pray to God that nobody insured through them ever hits you (:

    Dealing With Children, March, 2015

    I feel like I'm dealing with children. My farmers insurance agent must be called 4 times for her to realize you exist. I have been blamed for not doing my insurance agents job. Once my vehicle hit the minimum range for totality, they didn't even ask, they just deemed it a total loss. The insurance settlement rep took 8 phone calls to get a hold of and 3 hours before the weekend, would not be available(which sucks when they deduct money out of your settlement for holding fees at a repair shop for a weekend even when I call to tell the insurance company to take it but am not able to get a hold of anyone) and lastly I have been jerked around, waiting for my settlement for a week while I have no transportation, when they claim to send me an email for direct deposit info, I never get an email, and the next day am told they will just send a check meanwhile right after the phone call I get an email listing reasons to keep my policy with them, from the same people who claimed to have sent me direct deposit info, but now I have to wait the whole weekend til I get a settlement check on Monday where I have to scramble to use it to buy a new car so I can get to work. Thankyou farmers for testing my patience, and my ability to have a car dealership hold a car for me for weeks waiting for my settlement as a payment.

    The worst there is, February, 2015

    back in 2008 we got hit by Hurricane Ike, all of our neighbors got theirs roof replaced, no questions asked, 7 years later and many, many claims Farmers homeowners insurance does not see the need to replace our roofs, we had 3 houses and 3 cars "covered" by them... NOT ANY MORE... We just Move with Liberty Mutual.

    Great Company, January, 2015

    I have been with this company for 8 yrs, ever since the home has been built and a tornado went through and did lots of damage in 2011. I am checking prices to see currently to see if I can save money. I understand it is beneficial to check options ever so often.

    Price hike, July, 2013

    We have had farmers for 5 years, always loved their service. I noticed last year my mortgage going up and did some research, my homeowners insurance had gone up. The same thing happened this year. My homeowners policy went up $920 in 2 years. I have never filed a single claim against my homeowners insurance. This is totally uncalled for!! Beware of farmers... Great service for car, unexplained price gouging on home owners...
