Worst Insurance Carrier Ever, March, 2018
This company gauges you with fees even if you are the slightest bit late on a payment. Even if payment is before cancellation date they charge a late fee and hefty reinstatement fee. Absurd. Go elsewhere.
WORST COMPANY EVER, May, 2019
We are a cleaning company, and we chose them because we had switched payroll companies and they had a different agent, so our agent chose them. Honestly, if another business owner were to ask me to recommend an insurance company I would never in a million years recommend AmTrust. The way AmTrust does its jobs is very poorly,they're rude.
Don't waste your money . I had ONE claim with this company , and they did not pay anything out to the maid. Instead they cancelled us.

Auto-Charged for an extra year, when I called their service, they pretty much told me to suck it up, and provided the number for the customer service of the collection agency.

The company I work for received damages from from an insured of AM Trust. I have been handling our companies corporate insurance claims for over 20yrs, and this by far is the WORST insurance company I have ever dealt with. Based on our experience, if you are considering placing your coverage with them, I would advise against AM Trusts services.

the process after being hit by one of their insureds has dragged on for 4 months and I have yet to be paid, the rental was cut off and they are holding funds for storage so I can't get my car from the auto body shop. i won't even get into how much they wanted to pay me after they totaled my car. unacceptable, never give this company a dollar

Charging $5K Because They Can, April, 2018
Apparently California law changed 1/1/17 which caused officers (owners) of a company to be included in payroll wages for the sake of workers comp. My husband and I had never been included in our workmans comp coverage in all the years we were in business. When we opened the policy with Amtrust in 2015, we had an endorsement that excluded us from coverage. So when Amtrust sent a waiver form to exclude us from coverage in January 2017, I disregarded it and didn’t understand it’s implications. I am on payroll at $10800 a year, my husband isn’t on payroll. When I completed the audit on October 2017, I didn’t put my wages on because I thought I wasn’t included. After the audit, I received a bill for $5025. I didn’t understand, thought they were including our servers’ tips, and called the company. They said I could submit a dispute, which I did. I called late December 2017 to follow up, and they said it could take as long as two months to get a response. Finally, end of January, they sent a letter stating the waiver form had not been submitted and the charges stand. I still didn’t understand what was going on, didn’t connect that they were adding wages, so I called again. The rep said they added approximately $38000 for both my husband and me, totaling about $76000. The rep said to get copies of the waivers from the agent and submit them. I did that. Now, in April 2018 Amtrust is stating that the cut-off for submitting backdated waivers was 12/31/18. I called and they are holding firm, charging me an additional $5000+. The reps are providing conflicting information. Also, they never informed me that my monthly rate would go up because of the inclusion of my husband or me. Had I been billed for the increase, I would have been alerted as to what was going on. I think this is deception, bordering on fraud. I am getting legal services. If you have had this experience, please let the public know.

I have had three claims adjusters in six months. WC claim everyday is a fight I have to go threw and explain how messed up my claim is. Took months to start treatment. Huge disappointment every day since it started.
HORRIBLE workcomp Insurance!, January, 2019
Do NOT use this insurance company for any reason. We have had 4 or 5 different agents. The 2nd one was clearly drunk while talking to me on the phone. This is by far the biggest mistake we have ever made as a business. I would'nt use them again if it was free!!!!!!!!

I lost my business in the northern California fires. I've spent the last 1.5 yrs fighting with them to get paid. They've done everything to not pay. Clearly they are trying to get me to be so desperate that I settle for penny's on the dollar. They are so unreputable. I am entering a lawsuit with them. After I'm past that, I'll share the facts. They are mind blowing. For now, BEWARE!

Worst insurance. STAY AWAY. No communication between departments. Erin from the audit department is totally useless and creates more problems than solutions. I lost 6000 because of them. I hope they close down

I had a worker's comp policy through them. First, they couldn't even send a notice letter to the right address to let me know they're ending my service due to non-payment. They wanted the entire year up front, which I couldn't afford. So I tried to call their customer service for two weeks between mid-May to June 1st when my service was scheduled to be terminated. Nobody to be found. Every time, I got the message that they were unavailable and to call back later. Day after day was like that. My agent through ADP tried to call the account manager there and she was also unavailable. Long story short, my coverage lapsed and my business took a fine for it. Thanks for literally doing nothing, Amtrust.
