    Unresponsive,Irresponsible, Very Slow, April, 2015

    The claims adjuster that I was assigned to left my claim information sitting on her desk for weeks without working on it. I had to speak with her supervisor and she started working on my claim for me. I was told the process takes 21 o 28 days to complete. It has been over 30 days and counting. I was told that there is no date or range for completion at this point. This company/adjuster is horrible. My adjuster decided to take it amongst herself to reclassify my property under different categories to minimize the payout. I have filed a report with the better business bureau.

    denied claim for water damage december 2015, January, 2016

    denied claim for water damage that came from the weather being bad. been with them for 6 years and this was my first claim. 15000 dollors is what i have been quoted to fix it. im gonna let my lawyer take it over now since they wont return any of my phone calls. and as soon as this is over im leaving them. i would not advise anyone to go with them in fact i have got four people to leave them so far.

    Denial of Claim, September, 2015

    Extensive vandalism by evicted tenant. This company (American Modern) called it "hard wear and tear". Would not cover anything. Approximately $10,000 damage, plus loss of rent while repairing . This company NOT recommended!

    damaged my gutter/wouldn't accept responsibility , January, 2016

    claims adjuster came to check out leak in roof and put ladder against gutter by my front door by my small entrance deck which caused vertical crack in metal seamless gutter and dented it causing gutter to hang lower than any other place on the gutter and also caused major waterfall in heavy rainfall that splashed off deck onto my front door and now causing water to enter home through door and beginning water damage in doorway area. after informing them of this, they said they didn't have a picture of a ladder in that spot and tell me there's no proof they are responsible to pay for replacement of my gutter even though I was home and saw the claim's adjuster put the ladder in that spot and saw the damage he caused after he'd gone.

    Worst Insurance, December, 2014

    I bought a new H-D and Insured it with AMIG, owned it for less than a month and it was stolen. Worst experiences of my life, they paid the bike off and nothing ells. Cost me 13,000.00 out of pocket to replace it. I will never recommend AMIG to anyone.

    terrible and uncaring company, April, 2016

    Our area was declared a disaster after a flood and severe storms . It took agent two weeks to come out and access roof damage only to deny claim stating normal wear and tear. I had no leaks before storm. How insensitive can a company be. Don"t need any stars.

    Denied claim for house that severely damanged, April, 2015

    Used them for a policy for an LLC (house rental). They denied the claim for the house that was severely damanged, had missing property, applainces were damanged (some beyond repair) . They claimed this was normal wear and tear. Tenants were there 6 mos. before we had to formally evict them

    Worst Company EVER!!!!, April, 2016

    I had water and mold damage . An agent came out and sniff our damage items. after sniffing item he, state that there was no damage and denied the claim.

    Cancel without notice, December, 2015

    Absolutely horrible horrible experience. Never ever use these people. The customer service is so ridiculously rude and obnoxious. This company decided to cancel my home insurance 2 months after we bought our LOG home because we didn't have siding. They don't have siding. It's log..as stated in our dwelling app.

    They have No organization whatsoever. Definitely is sad to hear somebody be so disrespectful during the most joyess time of year.

    Greedy Nasty Greedy, December, 2015

    This company charged an exorbitant price for insurance then raised our rates even though we have not had a homeowner's claim in over 7 years and not even with them. Run...they will try to insure your home for as low as possible, too. Glad to have found a better rate by two-thousand dollars, too! I can't believe it is even legal to charge any homeowner that much. I proclaim that basing rate on credit score is discrimination based on socio-economic standards.

    Would not pay claim, February, 2017

    This insurance company are scam artists. I have been with them for 4 years,always paid on time,never had a claim until now. They called today to inform me that they would only pay a third of the cost for repair after the work had already been done! Now I'm stuck with a large portion of a bill that they refuse to pay any labor cost, plumbing repair (leak in a copper pipe in slab foundation), and claimed they notified me of the lack of coverage on all calls between myself and the adjuster. Totally false! I would not recommend these folks to anyone and I will be seeking insurance elsewhere. You pay thousands of dollars to them and when disaster strikes they shaft you! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY REASON!!

    Beware, They will not be there to Help!, November, 2016

    Rental house was hit by a tornado, the adjuster showed up promptly. He was an independent. Process took weeks, no return calls, company claims adjuster when contacted said he had moved to another dept. Settlement was honestly pathetic, and service was horrible.

    Horrible Customer Service , January, 2017

    I had a break in around Christmas had to file a claim. My adjuster Tiffany Doersam was very rude, unsympathetic and not professional at all. She let my claim sit for almost 3 weeks avoid phone calls, emails, promised it would be done every week just to avoid me more. Finally 3rd week she sends it to Special Investigations to prolong it bc I wrote her email explaining how I felt about the robbery and how I felt this company was not handling this claim in my best interest. Called her supervisor Racheal Butt several times left vm's never got a return call. this company is over Erenters it's a headache to deal with. They are slow, impatient and just there to do a job they do not care about their customers personal lives. My adjuster sends me the pricing report 10 days after it was printed and I missed the deadline for the depreciation value, thank god I didn't need it but the point is I didn't even get the option. This has been a nightmare even down to cashing the check the insurance company cut for me. I'm cancelling my policy and going with State Farm mostly bc my adjuster was so horrible!!!!

    NO WORDS, January, 2018

    I couldnt even select zero but had to select 1 star for this crappy insurance company because they wouldn't let me submit my opinion . Taylor Wulker was my insurance lady and she was the worst. My house was robbed totaling $28,000 between loss/damage. She decided that there was only $6,000. Never returned my calls, strung me along for over 6 MONTHS! ! Kept telling me I needed to resubmit docs. I already turned in and NEVER gave me answers just run around along w her supervisors Larry and Rachel. What an absolute joke this company is. They didn't care about helping me rebuild the part of my home which was destroyed, nor what items my 7 yr old son and I have lost forever that held a priceless sentimental value. Their main concern is how they can screw their customers out of what they're entitled to in order to make it seem like it's our fault for being fallen victims to uncontrollable situations AMERICAN MODERN is supposed to be trusted with in handling. What a disgrace

    Major mistakes , July, 2017

    I do not recommend this company. They canceled my homeowners policy for non payment. Payment had been made a month prior but they "lost" the payment until I provided the check number. Then charged me to reinstate the policy! Beware of this company, poor accountability!

    Disgusted, June, 2017

    When dishwasher went out, found there had been a small leak, possible for the whole 17 years owned mobile home. Wouldn't pay claim because it was caused by the dishwasher that came with the new purchase??? Took them over a week to send an adjuster to look. 7 days for the adjuster to file his report and my husband calling daily for several days without anyone returning his call. Until the one answering the phone told us the denial was in the mail.

    I read so many negative reviews but in all honesty I've never had a problem with them .. I filed a claim and Jeff Jarvis handled it immediately. He provided excellent customer service . I would recommend others to use this insurance .

    Excellent in a crisis, March, 2017

    A 46' tree fell next to our coach and damaged the coach and totaled my car. We contacted them with all the issues involved. The estimate from our contractor was paid in full and in a very timely manor. We were delighted, no copay nothing left out. Our claim manager did not have one question.

    Never buy from these CROOKS, February, 2017

    I filed a claim for hail damage, they cut me a check and a letter stating they would pay depreciation after repairs were made. I had the repairs made, now they refuse to pay. Never buy insurance from these crooks. I'm getting a lawyer.

    Fair claim payment but very sloooow, February, 2015

    I had a minor accident that ended totaling my motorcycle. I had hoped to repair the bike but the laws in my state say if the damage is over 2/3 of the value it has to be totaled. American Modern gave me a fair settlement but it took them over 5 weeks to settle the claim. The adjuster was very slow to respond to phone calls and emails and she did not seem to know what she was doing at times. So, mixed bag... overall claim payment was fine, they just need to work on training the adjusters better. Or, maybe the adjusters have an unreasonable workload??

    Did not renew= forbid from future policy FOREVER, March, 2016

    We went with this company for earthquake insurance because USAA is associated with them and that means the coverage would be less expensive (since all of our policy's are with USAA). When we moved, it appears that our renewal notice was sent to a prior address that was no longer forwarding. Rather than calling the number on file, they cancelled the policy, and have a rule that they will NEVER insure us again. This was not a late payment (we paid in full). This appears to be a ploy ... for what, I am not sure.

    don't recommend them; customer service is zero to , February, 2016

    Tried for over 2 weeks to transfer 2 cars from one state (Policy) to another. Assigned agent never answered phone- or e-mail. Marketing agency at call center either did not even recognize the policy/claim number for the transfer. Call backs did not happen. Finally changed to another company. I'm glad I never had a claim to be settled.

    Started good but went downhill, July, 2016

    The ones I gave 1 star, only because I had to, otherwise they'd be 0 stars.

    We got American Modern for our first home about 3 years ago. Everything was good we always made our payment on time an never had a claim. Then we bought a new house with more room and they claimed we had to put a new roof on within 14 days or they would drop us. The rep I spoke to on the phone said their "expert" claimed in needed a new roof. I had 3 contractors all come to give us a quote and all said the roof was fine but the "expert" at AM (who never came to the house in person, only looked at A picture) said it needed replaced and if we didn't have it done and ready in 14 days they would drop us. No contractor could guarantee the 14 day deadline but said they would start within that time and the AM rep said "no, it has to be completed in the 14 days." Finally we switched to Country Financial who DID look at the house and said the roof was fine, and we even have a lower monthly rate than AM. Never going back to American Modern again and highly recommend that no one does.

    DIrect contact impossible , January, 2019

    1/ This company does not allow you to talk to a real person. When you call their numbers provided you get a phone tree that does not allow for talking to anyone.

    2/ If they are billing your credit card/debit card monthly and the credit card has a change of expiration date the billing will fail and they will bill you more next month as a penalty; and that goes on and on. When the billing of your card fails due to a change of expiration date, they don't try to contact you - only penalize you. If you want to contact them to give a new credit card date or other card info, you cannot find any way to talk to a live person to give the information to.

    Confusion, December, 2018

    Received a letter and check stating I had submitted a hail damage claim, but neither I or the renters have any recollection of talking to a agent or walking around the house with them. Seems strange when none of us can remember this. I do not want a claim or a check but cannot reverse either. Tiffany has been no help and I guess I feel this is a scam. How many times do you have the home owner refusing a check?

    The customer service was terrible. The communication with my insurance adjuster was almost nonexistent. My claim was not handled in a timely manner. After waiting over two weeks to hear from my adjuster he denied my claim when there was hail damage on my roof and water damage to the interior. Never in my life have I ever delt with such bad business. I do not recommend this insurance company to anybody. They simply do not care

    Horrible!!!!, July, 2018

    Didn't communicate with my lien holder, canceled my homeowners policy because my lien holder and them didn't talk! Pathetic pieces of shit. They saw their error and fixed it. Ridiculous. The government needs to have more protections under the law for people. Raised my rates 800 dollars from one year to the next, for no reason at all!! They can't even tell me why...........lol unbelievable. Put my escrow short and then lien holder had to increase my monthly payment in order to cover the shortage. I can't afford the increase and my lose my home all together.

    WILL NOT RESPOND TO CALLS, July, 2018

    Our motorcycle damage due to an accident has still not been determined after 2 weeks. The adjuster was there the NEXT day. It is sitting in storage at the towing co. at a daily cost. They do not respond to phone calls. You cannot get a person on the line. Better business bureau to be contacted.

    Excellent Service, October, 2015

    I recently contacted American Modern about damage to my property. Within 5 minutes an adjuster called me back and setup an appt time.

    He was professional, courteous and fair. I could not have asked for a better insurance compamy.

    Terrible experience, February, 2019

    Company did not pay our fire claim until 6 months later we have no money left in our home claim because adjuster spent it all and did not let us know that money was low on our housing. We. found out when the apartment complex sent us notice that we have to move. Do not go with this company they are the worst!!!

    claim denied, February, 2019

    i filec a claim on 12/27/18, it was denied on 1/11/19 . this claim was for a leaking toilet that damaged my bathroom floor .it was denied the adjuster due to fact that my policy dont cover such damage the cost was over 2000.00 still cant get them to reconsider .carolyn harris i am thinking of taking them to small claims court to see if i have grounds to sue this company .i wont be renewing the policy and i have been acustomer since 10/20/2004.
