SAVE YOURSELF THE GRIEF, January, 2016

Absolute worst insurance company. A payment I made in December was "lost" so they did not give me coverage until mid January when they suddenly "found" it. None of the reps know anything and I am still waiting on my refund. Ridiculous. Supervisor wouldn't even speak with me directly.

    Horrible, August, 2016

Terrible Website & Customer Service, March, 2016

Their website is never fully functional. As a web designer and coder even I find it very hard to use. Upon calling them to get my auto pay fixed and paperless billing removed ( Their website wasn't able to handle these requests ) the customer service rep put me on hold 3 times just to figure out what I was asking for.

I will be dropping ambetter this coming year. Knock on wood that I never actually need to use my insurance.

    USELESS, June, 2016

I would give zero stars but it starts from one. I am paying so much money for this insurance and I can`t get regular yearly wellness check-up. Most doctors from the list will not take you if they hear AMBETTER. Next enrollment I`ll be smarter and will get real insurance.

Ambetter should be called AmWorst, February, 2017

    This company is simply horrible!!!

    * They bury their contact info under their FAQ

    * When you call you have to enter your Member ID, DOB and Zip, then when you reach someone they make you go through that (and more) all over again

    * If you call during the day you can possible reach someone who actually knows something but if you call after-hours they seem to have an offshore service and those poor folks can only apologize a hundred times for everything that doesn't work but getting actual help seems unusual

    * For us poor folk, co-pays have disappeared until you hit the multi-thousand-dollar deductible

    * Their website is absolutely the WORST for trying to find and choose a PCP, there is an 'ad' space where one option to find a PCP flies past (you better watch for it to click on it) or there is another in their main menu. The options don't take you to the same place and if you put one piece of information too many in the fields you won't find what you want... and even if you find what you want there is no button to actually choose the Doctor.

Once again, proving the rule that if you aren't wealthy in our country getting and using insurance is nothing more than a barrier to getting any HEALTH CARE!!!

    Terrible, June, 2016

Their provider search tool deliveries erroneous results. Their customer service is rude and unhelpful. I resent being compelled to purchase insurance and this is made worse by this "provider" providing little/nothing of value. Thanks for taking thousands from me each month in exchange for nothing!

No "in network" doctors will see you, September, 2017

Ambetter is a fraud. A simple broken bone isn't covered as they have zero orthopedic surgeons in network in Chicago to do a simple cast. Ive been trying to find a PCP all year but no one will see you due to my policy being with ambetter, they just hang up on you or they never answer phones. This isn't insurance it is a fraud scheme.

Anyone know a good attorney???, July, 2017

7 hours each week for months now, trying to get claims paid. No consistency w/in processors handling of claims. CSRs appear not to be trained in submission operations - everyone has a different theory or explanation. My Opthamologist has accounts of all Ambetter insured (including myself) on hold- will not proceed with planned procedures. I have cataracts and am losing my vision as I wait for Amber to decide whether claims are to be paid as medical or vision! Anyone know a good attorney?

I found a doctor and pharmacy I can go to and afford, but other than my primary doctor, there are no other doctors I can go to because they do not take the insurance, any doctors they give you are way too far, and ones they give you don't have the insurance, plus paying 1750.00 Deductible before being covered going to the emergency room, is major fail.

    Completely incompetent, January, 2018

Because of the obvious collusion in the health insurance industry, Ambetter from HealthNet is the only Health Exchange insurance provider in Maricopa County, Arizona. This company isn't worth ink it takes to print their name. With completely incompetent customer service, completely incompetent IT services, completely incompetent billing processes, completely incompetent claims processing, the only thing they have going for them is that ACA didn't have a 100% PUBLIC OPTION! If I could arrange it, I would drive this company into insolvency and force their liquidation and put all their executives in jail. I have been forced to file multiple complaints to regulators in the states of Washington and Arizona and the Federal Government in Washington, DC. They have repeatedly blocked me from accessing my account information. In late 2017, they attempted to charge me for a policy that had been terminated in the middle of 2016. With 2018, they have come up with a "new" website that has again blocked me from accessing my account. Attempting to call them was fruitless and also indicated that this problem was probably widespread because I was on hold for 30 minutes before finally giving up with their call center. So I called their corporate office at 314-725-4477 to escalate the issue to their executive offices. Given the pattern and history with this company, I would encourage EVERYONE to skip calling the call centers and start calling the executive office. Further, if so inclined, skip calling altogether and just start submitting every complaint, no matter how big or small, to your state's Insurance Commission and Attorney General. Make this company answer for their incompetency to government lawyers.

    Don't Do It, November, 2017

The cost is lower than others when comparing, however, once you sign up, it is impossible to find providers that will accept the insurance. Don't be fooled by the Ambetter provider list, you have to call each one on the list only to find out that they no longer accept Ambetter.

    DO NOT PURCHASE!, September, 2017

This is my third year trying this company hoping for the best, but THIS year every claim made for myself and my wife, they come up with some red tape saying that this is not covered. The premiums went from $200 to $900 a month and I have yet to get them to cover ANY medical expenses beyond normal checkups. DO NOT PURCHASE anything from this company!

    Worst EVER!, April, 2017

I needed insurance for a short time. Not only did they NOT send me my card but after cancelling they STILL send me bills in the mail. I cancelled my insurance with them and they still send bills to me. Worst customer service in the world, they are dumb as rocks. I cant believe this company is still around. They mess with low income families. I have called many times telling them I am NOT paying for something I never used. I even cancelled with them and the bills keep coming in the mail. Worst decision I have ever made, waste of money. I never was able to even use my insurance with them. Save yourself the hassle and time and don't get there insurance.

    Worst company ever, April, 2017

I signed up with this so called health insurance company in December 2016. They are continually telling saying I am past due every month. I call and I am told they will take care of the problem and nothing is done. I ask to talk to a supervisor and they are always out of the room. I ask to talk to billing and they say the line is busy and they will call me back. No one calls back. I have also been hung up on by their employees. I cannot find any contacts for a main office. Again this month they are saying I am past due. My proof I pay early every month is on my credit card. I also find it funny that they send a receipt when I pay with no date on it. I have more than had it with this incompetent company. I have never had a past due bill in my life. And have never dealt with a bigger bunch of liars. I have call healthcare.gov to see if I could change. No I could not. I am calling the Ohio Insurance Commission but not sure what they can do. And yes I am very interested in a class action lawsuit against this company. I have had it. Hopefully I never have to use this joke of an insurance company.

    Fraudulent , April, 2017

So... after pouring money into this health insurance for many months now without ever actually needing to use it I found myself in dire need of medical care. To my surprise 0% of the care providers listed on their website actually accept the insurance... So yeah, if anyone wants to get the class action law suit rolling against these sketchy mofo's let me know.

Terrible, Terrible customer service, April, 2017

This company has the most disorganized and incompetent customer service. I cannot for the life of me convince them to change my mailing address, even though it's the same as my billing address, which they have no problem billing. I have asked several times, and it is still incorrect, and when I emailed them about it, they told me to check the address with the marketplace. My marketplace address is correct. I do not understand why no one seems to have the authority or ability to do this. I have received no mail from them since I opened the plan. Their website is a navigation nightmare.

    TOTAL SCAM!!, September, 2017

I was insured with Ambetter in 2016. never actually got to make use of them other than once when I had to do a preventive blood screening. I was told that if tests were done through a LabCorp, Ambetter would cover 100% of the test charges. When I showed up at LabCorp, I was asked to order the test through RequestATest.com which I did on the spot on my smartphone and got the test done with an out of pocket payment of $199. When I later made the claim to Ambetter, they would not reimburse me saying that they do not identify RequestATest.com as legit, even though RequestAtest supplied all the CPT codes for the tests and a legitimate receipt. I therefore lost my $199 straight. If you are in the market looking for insurance, please please please!! DO NOT Purchase AMBETTER!!! They will take your money and never HELP you when you need them!!! Big time CONS and total SCAM!

    Terrible, December, 2017

If I could choose less than 1 star, I would. This company has been incredibly unprofessional in the time that I have had them as the provider for my daughter. First of all, their website doesn't even allow me to create an online account because my daughter is less than 12 (she is 2 years old). Why would anyone assume that someone less than 12 would be the one creating the online account to pay the bills? Second of all, they dropped a bunch of providers/hospitals last second before 2018. And finally, when I tried to call in to make a payment (because I am unable to make an online account to do so), I talk to someone who I can barely understand because their grammar is so bad. This someone says, "call back in an hour and talk to someone else about making a payment". This company is incredibly unprofessional and should not be allowed to operate in this fashion.

Ambetter - than what?, December, 2017

    Where shall I start?

In a list of Dr's provided - 1 out of 10 even took AB.... not all of those were accepting new patients.

Information on covered prescriptions? NO ONE KNOWS - and somewhere there is a list......

Information on covered procedures..... see above but include the fact that not even your Dr. will have a clue what they cover/don't cover.

YOU will administrate your policy. YOU will do all the phone calling (over 150 hrs in 2015),

YOU will do all the follow-up when basic in office tests are (mistakenly) NOT COVERED and you can't trace 'back' to who should even get paid. Approximately 7 hrs of phone calls for one basic blood test not interpreted by an AB provider but GIVEN BY AN AB provider.

YOU will have to ask the DR to contact the company (ha ha ha ha) to approve basic procedures,

YOU will be the person attempting to do what AN INSURANCE COMPANY DOES.

Monthly premiums - expect a notice every month saying they have not received your payment. THEN wait 2 or 3 months before they somehow 'find it'.

Customer service? NO ONE can answer any important questions on any of the above. (even after waiting over an hour for someone to take your call)

Care outside of your immediate area? Sure thing.... just have the ambulance take you BACK to the ONLY facility accepting AB - even if you're 100 or more miles away?

Specialty (as in colonoscopy) services - ONLY provider 45+ miles away.

    Ahhhh yes - 2015 - premium $24/month.

2016 - no change in income - premium would have been $200/month with nothing covered other than a yearly 'well-check' (AB will send a scribe to make sure you do not discuss any health issues- if you do you'll get a bill for over $400) and tests not necessary every year.

NOTHING - at least not until your deductible is paid in full.

Hmmmm - $2400 plus $2500 = $4900 out of pocket BEFORE you actually have health 'insurance'.......

    Shall I continue?

    BEWARE, June, 2017

We purchased this plan due to what it offered at this price point vs. other companies. Searched their database of providers and 100s in our area showed up. Nope! They are fax numbers or corporate offices to hospitals, no actual office to be seen in. After several phone calls to customer service and months have gone by, they still are unable to find a Dr within our county that takes this insurance. We do NOT live in a rural area. If it's this hard to see a Primary care physician or Ob/Gyn, it would be scary if you needed a specialist. Buyer beware...not many are actually accepting this insurance!

Should be called "AmWorse", March, 2017

Switched my medical to Ambetter because BCBS premium was outrageous. Have had NOTHING but problems with these people. Billing dept is a joke: payments are not applied and/or they claim "never received" despite proof they got it. Customer service either doesn't respond or, if they do respond, it's a "we'll get back to you on this". Biggest mistake I ever made was switching to this company.

    worst insurance ever, January, 2018

This is the ABSOLUTE worst insurance I've ever had.

They were impossible to reach...I always was on hold for 30min or longer.

I had to get treatment for a serious medical condition, and they wouldn't work out a single case agreement, even though what I needed wasn't covered in network. They finally agreed after I waited two months finally getting an attorney involved. Meanwhile my condition just kept getting worse.

While I was trying to get coverage during that time, they would agree to a place, and then a few days later call and change their mind. My case worker kept saying she was new to my case and thats why she didn't know what was going on, but in reality she was my case worker from the beginning. This company was very deceptive and difficult to work with. I would NEVER choose them again, and I'm encouraging all my loved ones to stay clear of it also.

    Scary, very scary..., October, 2017

No doctors take them despite their long list on the website. I need a Neurologist and the nearest one is 120 miles away. Customer service can't or won't help. My wife had symptoms of heart attack, went to ER, denied as not medically necessary. Wife has been out of work with her back for over a month. Two denials and three weeks to get approval for MRI saying "not medically necessary." Found that she has 3 bulging disks. Now we are waiting for Ambetter to approve more treatment at the pain doctor.

    Frustrating Runarounds, August, 2017

The only thing they seem to do OK is cash those premium checks. Provider network info VERY small, and website network MD finder is often inaccurate. Then denials at every turn, even for very standard services. They claim precert needed even when their provider website says NO precert for that service code (CPT). Their customer service reps regularly LIE by telling you a denial was reversed, then you see on your next statement that the denial was upheld! Unfortunately, this runaround never stops.

Not sure which is worse- being diagnosed with cancer or being forced to deal with these cruel fools :(

    NO PROVIDERS!, May, 2017

I have had Scott & White insurance for about 20 years. The premium jumped to about $900 a month with $6500 deductible and not available on the heathcare market. Because of this I was forced to find new insurance. Ambetter was the only one that was affordable. There are no doctors in Waco TX that accept this insurance!! My brother was fortunate because the doctor he's been seeing takes this insurance, so he's not considered a new patient. But....he needed a referral for asthma treatment & no doctors in Waco will take him. I am wasting my money!

    They Suck, February, 2018

One of only 2 choices in WA this time, thanks to the Republicans. Signed up on 12/19/17. Didn't hear anything from them, had to chase them down mid Jan.

Never made it to a new PCP, they couldn't be bothered.

    Terminated them 1/28/18.Requested a refund, got a

    huge run around.

    Doubt anything will come back.

They should not be allowed to be in the healthcare business at all.

They will find any reason to deny claims, March, 2018

I used Ambetter's Nursing Hotline. I was running a low fever and had a blister on my foot. It was infected and the infection was traveling up my leg. After answering dozens of questions, the nurse told me to go to the ER. I was admitted with Cellulitis and underwent 4 days of intense antibacterial IVs. Ambetter denied the ER admittance billing, and now I'm beginning to have to file appeals. The denied all claims from treatment, except for one doctor, leaving me with bills in the thousands.

Do yourself a favor and don't even consider the terrible health insurance plans from this terrible company. I have to use them because all other companies left my area due to the massive costs incurred by Obamacare. They have raised premiums by 50% each year I have had the unfortunate necessity of dealing with them; the only thing they can do reliably is send an exorbitant bill every month. Please, help this gang of incompetent, tax supported bureaucrats go out of business in any way you can.

I have never enrolled with them. I did not even know they existed. This is straight fraud. After looking at the fine print on the email, I realized they were using MarketVolt to send out mail. This means they got my email from a third party such as Healthcare.gov or another website.

Simply the worst - Don't Do it!, February, 2016

I could write a novel on how awful this company is! I will try and condense it for time.

I purchased ambetter through the WA state health plan finder several years ago. I've made my payments religiously for the past 2-3 years. Recently health plan finder has cut out their involvement in regards to $ being exchanged from policy holders to providers. It was at that time that ambetter said I missed a payment over a year ago. Health plan finder continues to maintain I made all my payments. Ambetter gave me a different amount owed every time I called (they said I owed anywhere from nothing to $1200.) The amount was never the same, and they couldn't even tell me what month I had missed or what year. It wasn't until I went to my bank and got my payment statements (and faxed it to them) that they even had an idea of the month/year missed.

It took two months of me calling and faxing information to have them tell me I would need to pay them $950 dollars to bring my account up to date. In the meantime my 2-year-old became very sick and stopped breathing Halloween night. I took him to the emergency room knowing I had paid for insurance through October. Later I was told even though I paid for insurance, ambetter considered my account 'delinquent' since I owed money from a year ago, and refused to pay for any claims made (though they were more than happy to take my monthly payments). When I explained the reason why I was delinquent was a fault in their records and their inability to resolve the issue in a timely manner, the representative told me 'that's just the way it is.' When I cried on the phone citing my toddler's emergency visit, the representative told me he didn't have kids and therefore (quote) he 'couldn't understand' what the big deal was. Simply heartless.

Long story short - I had to pay for insurance I couldn't use, and I will NEVER use ambetter health insurance again!

    Awful plan, March, 2016

I signed up for this insurance because I could no longer afford BC/BS, even under ACA. I also was foolish enough to believe that the plan actually did have the hospitals and providers listed on the website.

Unfortunately, after I enrolled, I discovered the hospital shown on the website, which is only a few miles from where I live, isn't in the plan. And the doctor group shown on the site, whom my old doctor told me were good, didn't accept ambetter either.

For the past two months, I've been trying to find a primary provider. I went to one doctor twice. The doctor never took one page of paperwork. I had to wait two hours for a five-minute visit. I never had the impression he was interested in my health--just with getting on to the next insurance claim-er, patient.

I have to wait three months to see a specialist whose office is at least 11 miles from where I live. I had no choice because he's the closest one.

Today alone I've been on the phone several times with their customer service people because the information they originally gave me was inaccurate. But I don't find this out until I've wasted time calling the doctors--and then calling ambetter back, only to get more wrong info. It's happened several times, for the past several months.

Buyer, beware. Please check this plan out before you enroll. Make sure the doctors are nearby and they are decent. I didn't and regret it.

    Be careful, November, 2015

The real problem with this company is less than 20% of the doctors in my city will accept the insurance. The ones who do take it complain about Ambetter not paying them, having to spend hours trying to collect from them and in one case taking litigation against them.

This is the same for blood work and imaging, the places Ambetter tells you accept their insurance do not. I personally believe that all of these places did at one time but got tired of not being paid so they stopped accepting patients with their insurance, one office staff member actually confirmed this to me.

Emergency room visits, that is laughable, you can only go to the hospitals that they cover. I live in San Antonio TX, with 15+ hospital brands. ONLY one accepts the insurance. Absurd.

Bottom line, if you live in a smaller city think twice about using them, odds are that you will not find a doctor that accepts their insurance, if you live in a big city and are pretty healthy you *might* have some luck. Caviet Emptor...

Ambetter is a complete fraud., June, 2016

Ambetter Insurance is nothing other than a mechanism to commit fraud on the public. Ambetter has NO intention of providing ANY coverage for its policy holders. Their website makes it impossible for a policy holder to select a Primary Care Provider, when you try to search for one, the search results are ZIP, ZILCH, NOTA. Nothing displays and you have no option to select. Further, their documentation indicates that you must have a referral for ANY AND ALL specialists, INCLUDING mental health services. When you actually get to a doctor and get a "referral," you get referred to providers who are no longer in business. When you get customer service on the phone to select a PCP, they do not follow your instructions. Recently, they assigned me to an office that I did not request, and then this week, the provider returned to a provider who is NOT fluent in english. After filing a complaint with the Insurance Commissioner in the State of Washington, I was assigned a case worker who has no authority to actually do anything. Again, this is a deliberate effort by Ambetter to delay the prospect of any claims being filed. So again, I caution ALL the public to avoid Ambetter at all cost. Even if you pay double the premium with another insurance company, you will have infinitely better coverage and service. Ambetter is a complete FRAUD and has less value than a bucket of excrement.

    No Doctors, December, 2016

I was scheduled to be on Ambetter for January 2017. I started looking for "new" doctors, as none of my present ones take this insurance. A doctor I was recommended was on the list - listed as accepting new patients. The number wasn't her office. When I called -- I found out she would not accept Ambetter -- was NOT one of their doctors. As I looked around, most were Nurse Practitioners - no hospital affiliations. If I needed a specialist - the closest to my house was 119 miles away. I couldn't even find a family doctor - let alone a specialist. It might be an affordable monthly payment -- but you get what you pay for. I've tried to reach them - it is near impossible to talk to a human being. After seeing the reviews on this page, I called my health insurance agent and tomorrow we shall see what else is available to me. (P.S. One of the doctor offices that I called had a wonderful nurse answer - when she heard AMBETTER - her reaction was, "Get Rid of Them - They Are Worthless" - and in Savannah - after seeing the "providers" I am agreeing with her. Good luck to you that have it.

    Ambetter is INCOMPETENT, February, 2016

Ambetter has made a HUGE mistake on my claim denial because they thought they were my secondary insurance when they are my primary. I went to the hospital last May and put Ambetter as primary and my fathers insurance as my second (he has insurance from his work with me included with it).

Since I went to the hospital last year due to emergency, I went somewhere that was out my network. Ambetter can't pay anything which is fin BUT they will not correct their mistake on claiming to be my secondary when they were listed as my primary. Because of this, my secondary insurance will not pay for my bill! They said Ambetter must correct their mistake and I have called SO MANY TIMES and have talked to so many different people who all give me different answers or just hang up on me.

They are not helping me fix this at all and they are too incompetent to understand what mistake they made. They keep referring to themselves as my secondary when I TOLD THEM they are my primary and I asked them to just CHANGE the denial explanation to say "Out of Network" instead of some garbage about waiting for my primary to contact them because it makes no sense whatsoever.

Every time I talked to someone about it they are always like "Uhh.. umm.. well.." and have no clue what to do to fix it. One person told me they will submit an appeal for me and then when I called them later asking about it they said that they couldn't complete the appeal because they were missing BASIC information like the date of service and the claim numbers (which I had already given them!!!) What the hell is going on with this company????

I should not have to PAY my medical bill when it could easily be covered by my secondary insurance because Ambetter is too stupid to fix their mistake in order for my secondary to cover the bill.

DO NOT EVER CHOOSE AMBETTER, September, 2017

My issue with Ambetter began with an error in the spelling of my name which I discovered about 2 days after my coverage began, this led to one of their representatives choosing to cancel my insurance (without ever being asked to do so and without my knowledge). As fate would have it, I ended up admitted to the hospital about a week later. Once I gave my insurance card and the hospital contacted Ambetter they were told my costs wouldn't be covered due to ME canceling my insurance. I then spent the next YEAR going back and forth with Ambetter about this issue since I paid my premium for that entire month and never received a refund when it was cancelled without my knowledge (therefore it was still active). And recently I have been notified by Ambetter that since it has now been over a year since the issue began they are completely refusing to handle it! THEY 100% dropped the ball and did so without my consent, then gave me the run around for OVER A YEAR constantly telling me someone would contact me (within 90 days), and now that they've bs'd me long enough they are completely clear from paying a bill that my premium was paying them to take care of, meanwhile I now have all of the hospital bills negatively affecting my credit! I am UTTERLY DISGUSTED that a company that treats it's members like this has been allowed to continue for so long and doesn't have to face any consequences while it destroys people's lives! I have since learned that they run this same scam on plenty of people and claim "the system went down and ended the coverage" to make sure to get out of paying the person's claim! If anybody has any advice on what my next course of action can be, legal or not, PLEASE LET ME KNOW and thank you.

    AmTERRIBLE, February, 2016

Ambetter overcharged my bank account over $500, and with overdraft fees from my other bills coming out, my account is overdrawn. They first told me it would take 30 days to get my money back. After calling the billing department numerous times and waiting on hold for about 2 hours total, now they are saying 3-5 days. That was Friday, today is Wednesday, and i still don't have my money. I requested a refund confirmation email so that I can give proof to my bank so that they will refund my overdraft fees. I was told it would take 3-5 days for the email too. And i still have not received an email. In the time it took the manager to notate my request, he could have sent me the email himself. I am HIGHLY dissatisfied with the way AMBETTER'S HUGE MISTAKE is being handled corrected. It has negatively impacted all of my finances and bill payments, so I hope anyone reading this will rethink using Ambetter. More like AmTERRIBLE.

    misleading customer service, February, 2017

BEFORE I signed up with Ambetter I called their customer service dep. to make sure a particular arthritis medication was covered, and if it wasn't I would shop for another insurer. They assured me it was covered but nearly a year later they have refused to pay for a single pill of that medication. Later I went to their "in-network" ER for a head injury and was billed well over a thousand dollars because one of the physicians on call that day at the "in-network" ER was an "out-of-network" provider (how was I to know that?). Because I had been lied to before, I called the Ambetter customer service folks BEFORE having a colonoscopy, just to make sure it would all be covered and they assured me that it was 100% covered and that I would not be billed a cent. A few weeks later I received a bill for anesthesia for over $545. If they would have told me that the colonoscopy itself is covered but other parts may not be, I might be ok with that... but they don't. Please don't purchase Ambetter insurance, what they tell you over the phone about their coverage is not true, you cannot believe their customer service folks.

WORSE COMPANY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER, May, 2016

been with this company for 5 months, out of that time only 2 and a half covered, called customer service and their answer is simply "I don't know why". Always blame to the marketplace. Called marketplace and they said on their end everything is ok and I should have coverage.

MARKETPLACE ITSELF GAVE ME THE PHONE NUMBER FOR THE INSURANCE DEPARTMENT FRAUD DIVISION TO CALL AND FILE A CLAIM.

Their website is never updated, Prepare to pay mode deductible that you have in your plan, because their system never show the correct up to date paid amount on they records.

Back to customer service (regardless the department you call) Never know what is happening , never have a answer for anything, only apologies for what is happening.

They told me that if I have to go to the doctor I should go and pay it myself.

Resuming... IT IS THE WORSE COMPANY EVER, ON EVERYTHING.

IN CASE SOMEBODY FROM THIS COMPANY CARE HERE IS MY POLICY NUMBER U9043317801.

I WILL BE AMAZED IF SOMEBODY CALL ME EXPLAINING.

I see Chapter 11 in their future., February, 2016

I was SO lucky to bail out of my plan before healthcare.gov locked me in. I spent two weeks trying to PAY my first premium without any success. The website does not work and customer service had never heard of me. The two providers on the list in my area both say they are not taking AmBetter patients anymore due to non payment. They have the lowest prices but paying for nothing is not a good option either.

You can't make a consistently controlled monthly p, May, 2016

You can't make a consistently controlled monthly payment and without being suspended because they won't take your credit card payment.

-They didn't have proof of any transaction that you had eve made on website.

    2) Customer Service: they cannot see or access any real information. Don't leave a survey it is not their fault. But they should tell you the truth about their limited access instead of speaking strongly and frustrated with the customer in repeating wait 3-5 business days.

-They can't tell you what happen to a payment that wasn't processed to be resubmitted and they can't see any receipts.

-When they make a mistake in not completing the transaction it takes forever for them to clear up the suspension they have against you from using your insurance. Even though it's their fault in not processing the payments. The agents will state it will take 3-5 business days . When you come back with the statement "but your record shows you have had the payment processed and out of my account for 7 business days" there is no answer and the agent gets angry and repeats 3-5 business days and there is no one in billing that they can transfer you to to get real business taken care of rather than speaking to a frustrated agent that knows their information is inaccurate.

4)I have never had such a hard time paying for services in my life.

    5) On their side it seems they only want to take payments from checking accounts and not credit cards. I guess because they know there is flaw in their system.

-Watch out. I have spent more time trying to pay this company. With all of my other bills it takes 30 minutes total monthly. With this company I have spent hours a month checking to see if they payment is still pending and if they eve took the payment and resubmitting the payment after the preauth falls off and the funds become available again and being suspended most of the time in this circle

    No Doctors, September, 2016

Ambetter is the worst health insurance there is. I am paying for insurance that does not have any doctors or specialist in the Savannah GA area. They have doctors on their web site but when you call the doctor to make an appointment they don't take this insurance. So now I am paying for insurance that I can not even use. Stay away from this insurance company if you live in or around Savannah GA

Crooks, Thieves, Criminals, Frauds, Scams , July, 2016

Horrible, horrible, and horrible! Please be aware of this insurance company scam. Purchased Ambetter through in agent Jan 2016 in my local area. Purchased plan that did not require specialist referrals. In May of 2016 needed to see a specialist. Learned the nearest specialist was 119mi away. Contacted Ambetter and was told they would authorize an out of network provider and expedite request because I was ill. Contacted specialist and informed me the physician I chose still does not have letter of authorization. Contacted Ambetter and was told I would need to go to my primary care physician for a referral. Contacted the doctor they chose to schedule a visits for a referral. Doctor informed me that they have explained to Ambetter since Jan 2015 they do not or have ever accepted Ambetter. Contacted Ambetter and was giving another provider. Contacted his office and was informed he has never heard of insurance company. I normally do not post reviews but If you read this please avoid Ambetter membership at all cost. The company starting to remind me of an upcoming "American Greed" episode

Do NOT opt for this insurance thinking you will be able to find a doctor...you won't . So I pay for coverage that is basically useless. Thanks Obama care.

    Awful, deceptive company, February, 2016

Completely awful company. It's pretty much Russian roulette with what medications they actually cover because what it says on their site they might not cover. Along with this, they deny claims and do not fax over reasons why to your medical provider. When you call customer service they don't really know what is going on and tell you to call your provider for things that they are supposed to do. I would avoid this company like the plague.

Cannot find Primary Care Physician, December, 2015

I have paid for this insurance coverage for a year and have been unable to use it. The Doctors listed on Ambetter's website as physician choices in my area do not accept this insurance and I was also told a couple of times, never did. Ambetter's website and information provided is very misleading and most of what I experienced, incorrect. Please call the Primary physician you choose before enrolling in this insurance to see if they in fact actually accept it. Unfortunately once you are enrolled your pretty much stuck. They made money off of my premiums and never had to pay anything out. I tried switching but had to wait until open enrollment.

    Fraudulent health insurance, August, 2017

I work in medical billing and deal with Ambetter Health. They are fraudulent! They do not pay claims to providers. They are not honest to patients! They pay claims to providers stating claim was paid based on Medicare fee schedule at rate under 10% to providers. They then try to coerce that a patient can't be billed. NOT TRUE! Patients are receiving high bills due to this. They CANNOT due this to patients because (1) PATIENT IS NOT ON MEDICARE (2) THEY ARE NOT MEDICARE. A class action suit needs brought against them. I feel bad for anyone whoever bought into their plan

Run!!! Do not get this insurance!!! I have had the insurance for three months, and they still have not provided me an insurance card. I have called 11 times and they keep saying they will send it for the last three months and still have not. I am pregnant and my OBGYN needs the actual card but I don't have one. I got sent away today from getting my blood drawn because they need the actual card and not just the number. I called Ambetter and they won't fax or email a copy of my card to the lab leaving me with no medical services provided despite paying every month. They are a scam, do not get this insurance..

    Not Credible, March, 2016

Their customer service is terrible. As a native Spanish speaker I called to get information about doctors available and requested the Spanish line. When I got through a person who does not speak Spanish answered and I had to wait for them to find an interpreter that they never found. After this happened, I tried getting an optometrist and when they finally gave me a name, I went to this location and it turned out the place has been closed for years! I went to other optometrists around the city and no one would accept this insurance. The same thing happened when I was seeking a pediatric. I do not recommend this insurance at all.

    OMG! Nightmare!, February, 2017

Spent hours and hours, 15-20 on the phone with a dozen reps and supervisors. Calls get dumped. Nobody seems to have any system to access information. Nobody can tell me anything but hundreds of "I'm sorry"s to get a refund check into my hands. Letters from them to me have nothing to do with the issue. I have many hours of recorded nonsense. I feel like Alice in Wonderland every call and every time I think we've made progress with the issue, I call back after the time, in days, that I was told to wait to see the solutions and It's like they don't know who I am or anything about the issue. They are destroying my health and life with the wasted time and stress. Total frikking nightmare! I can't believe they get paid even minimum wage for what they do. And when my doctor prescribed treatment for Hep-C, a contagious life threatening disease, Ambetter denied it because testing showed that I am doing a good job caring for my liver.

    grossly incompetent, March, 2016

I tried to sign up for Ambetter through the ACA healthcare marketplace. The website said I was accepted but I never appeared in their system at Ambetter. I filed multiple escalations, I spoke with "customer care" at Ambetter repeatedly to ask for my member number so I could pay my premium. They would put me on hold then come back and ask me for my mamber number. I repeatedly told them my escalation number and told them they were supposed to assign an agent to my case number, they seemed completely unaware of how the process was supposed to work. They didn't seem to wantto help me at all. Whenever I suggested that they just sign me up they told me they couldn't until they coiuld figure out what went wrong with my initial application. Completely useless and incompetent. I spent 6 weeks trying to get them to even try and solve the problem. All I got was insincere apologies with no follow up or follow through. God forbid this was my insurance company and I actually needed to file a claim or get help with my medical bills. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

Good Rate - Disorganized Operations, November, 2016

The rate was good for me in Florida but their operations is a mess. Took 8 weeks for them to assign my PCP despite he was in their network.

Took 4 weeks to update my phone number in system despite 2 phones call conversations and 2 emails to them.

The "extra" money you earn for going to gym is ONLY good towards doctor visits or deductible. So that VISA they send you will not work at stores.

The employees who answer the phones are among the best but the company is too disorganized

MOST DISORGANIZED COMPANY ON THE PLANET EARTH, February, 2018

I don't know where to begin and I'm not going to spend more time here other than to list mwhat I've learned from 3 years with this "health plan" and too many hours ospeaking with "customer support:

    (1) they are trying to rebuild their computer system and it's a mess. They have 3 different member IDs as they migrate to the new system yet the system does not always "know" about the legacy IDs -- worse yet, some cust support people are unaware. The result is you will often have no way to actualy discuss your account with them.

    (2) Their online website is a total mess. Links are broken, data is incorrect, provider listings are out of date. They even changed their domain without telling members - or even providing a forwarding link. omfg.

    (3) The billing system is FUBAR. I received a bill for hundreds of thousands of dollars (montly premium!) and -- they will have difficulty just figuring you latest balance. They've actually sent me cancellation notices due to the fact that theyir system simply has no idea what your balance is -- or: has it mixed up with previos policies that you may have had with them.

    (4) the "provider directory" is insanely out of date. They claim it's updated but I've called so many of these doctors only to be told that they've left the plan months ago. When this is pointed out they will blame the doctos for not updating their own profiles in the sysrem. It's a joke.

Causing Me Debt For No Reason, January, 2016

I was forced to take Ambetter by Obamacare. We are low income people and did not have to pay a premium this past year, but pay out of pocket if we need to see a doctor or get meds, so the insurance is just something on paper really. I no longer get a tax refund due to all this Obamacare though and that's the real reason we are forced to have it. Now since I was forced to get a new Ambetter policy for the new year something got "messed up" on Ambetters end and now Ambetter is sending my a $650 a month health premium. I was told that we would be reenrolled in a similar plan as last year, but they dupped us. It is mid January and I am already in debt to them for over $1300. I have not used this health insurance since having to be forced to be on it 2 years ago. I have not been to a doctor in 20 years. The couple times my wife has gone to the doctor, she had to pay for everything. It is completely useless health insurance that is causing us debt. I called in early January to try and fix this premium problem and they transferred me to the Obamacare people. I have no idea what or if I am still on this mess. Everytime now when I try and call Ambetter to talk to a human, they're system is down. The year before all this I paid about a $40 a month premium and the insurance was OK, but now they've changed game and it is clear to me what the agenda was from the get go. Keep the poor poorer and the rich richer and nothing inbetween.

Worst Company ever dealt with, December, 2015

Even though they have been getting regular payments from me, we regularly are told that our account is invalid when attempting to log in online. Calling in results usually in multiple hangups & long waits on hold. We have been trying to get automatic deductions straightened out for over a year now, and have 2 monthly payments that we can PROVE we made out in limbo somewhere, who knows? Who even knows if we have insurance after paying for over a year?

    Incompetent, unconcerned, worthless service.

It certainly deserves the name "obamacare".

WORST HEALTHCARE PLAN EVER!!, June, 2018

Because I have a part time job, I can’t afford to pay the ridiculously high premiums so my dad pays for me. I had this plan for year and a half now. We always made the payments every month, before the due date. But they sent a notice stating they never got my payment for April 2018 when we have proof that we paid. They lose it and what do they do, they suspend my account so I have no coverage right now. Which means if I have an emergency I’d have to pay who knows how much and they will refund it “eventually” When we called to complain, the customer service rep was very rude and they refuse to admit they did anything wrong! We’re only in this crappy plan because it’s cheaper than others but we’re gonna cancel and get something better. This plan is worth SHIT!! Anywhere’s better than here!! DON’T BUY THIS PLAN!! IT’S A BIG WASTE OF MONEY!! They make it up and look for any excuses to say you need to pay!! IDIOTS?!

Scam for poor/low class people , June, 2018

Ambetter is part of Big Pharma. It’s a costly insurance plan that doesn’t get you anywhere. No one will accept it because you truly are poor and low class and no one wants to deal with your “uneducated” rump. No one takes this and it’s just a scam to be legal in USA. It’s cheaper to get the fine of having no insurance to pay for this petty Big Pharma scam.

Felt company was scamming us., June, 2018

Agent Lance Z notified us in Dec of 2016 that we were required by law to carry health insurance thru Jan of 2017 and then it would be discontinued because my wife would turn 65 that month. (I am two years older) Anyway I received a bill for Feb and immediately called to have policy dropped. The following month the same thing happened and I repeated the process letting Ambetter know that we were no longer required or even eligible for Obamacare, and they had raised my rates for insurance I tried to decline. This went on for several months and I finally reported them to the insurance commission for what I believed to be insurance fraud. Attempting to collect monies from us as well as the government for insurance they knew we didn't need and were not entitled to. I finally got a representative that agreed to cancel our policy at the END of the month. I had tried to explain to him what was going on for over twenty minutes before he finally determined it was his choice to ALLOW us to drop our policy.

Well I thought that was the end of my dealings with Ambetter until a couple weeks ago when I received a letter from the IRS stating I owed the payments made in my behalf back to them.

Where does it stop? I am fit to be tied by the dealings of this company and their incompetent agents and staff.

Worst Insurance Company Ever, May, 2018

Worst insurance company i have ever had. My payment is due on the first of the month. On the third of March, Ambetter refused to refill my husbands cancer medicine. We were literally TWO DAYS past the due date but obviously well within the 30 day grace period. I have never had an insurance company do that in all the years i have had private insurance. Today, i got an email saying i was past due & in danger of losing coverage because I haven't paid this month. I definitely did pay. The bank said i paid, my online account said i paid and when i called Ambetter they acknowledged that i paid. Regardless, i was told there has to be an investigation and now I'm worried we will be cancelled & my husband won't have insurance coverage if he has an emergency. Horrible company!

Ambetter is a scam, February, 2018

Run...do not go with Ambetter for health insurance. I have spent over 35 hours on the phone trying to figure out why the company will not provide nursing service to infuse a medication I need weekly. I submitted the Rx, clinical notes , and nursing notes from my previous specialty pharmacy and have the read receipt form Ambetter. They are telling me the did not receive the info until a month later even though there is a paper trail and 35 hours of recorded phone conversations. This company lies and only wants to collect your premium and not pay your claim. Stay away.

Denied necessary asthma medication., February, 2018

Good luck getting medication if you happen to be allergic to the "standard" treatment. For six days customer service repeatedly lied to me (and the pharmacy) about never having received prior authorization from the doctor. When the doctor called to find out why they had not acted on her prior authorization they finally admitted to having received it but denied the claim anyway (with different people citing three different, contradictory reasons for doing so). I'm so glad that I pay these lying thieves hundreds of dollars per month in exchange for this kind of service.

    Really awful, November, 2018

I am not sure how they are in business. In the Cincinnati area the number of doctors who take this insurance is tiny. The website is non-functional except the place where you setup monthly payments. I guess they won in the end because we put off all elective procedures until we changed carriers.

If you have kids, don't walk away ... run., October, 2018

Ambetter failed to provide access to healthcare for my two year old. Earlier in 2018, I was prompted to alter my plan to include my 2 year old. The process to include him was fraught with error and employees who meant well but really couldn't help. I spent hours on the phone with membership services and enrollment, bouncing back and forth because no one knew the number of the appropriate department that handles modifications to existing accounts. Well at least I'm sure that is what they are trained to say. To give you an idea of how bad it actually is, I spent over 3 hours on the phone today because my 2 year old son's coverage was mistakenly voided

even though all bills were paid on time. When I called about the issue, the membership service rep claimed that the change may have come from the Marketplace. Ok, I contacted the Marketplace to see if anything had changed. Nope, that was and outright lie. According to the Marketplace, their last communication was dated, May of 2018 and it informed Ambetter to include my son in my current balanced care plan. It clearly laid out retroactive starting dates, insurance rates, who should be covered, etc. Nothing indicated that my son should be dropped on Oct. 30th. I contacted Ambetter membership services with a supervisor from the Marketplace in a three way call. This supervisor actually said, " We've been getting nothing but the run around for nearly 2 hours." Eventually, and perhaps by error or overwhelmed by the complete drudgery of it all, she quietly disconnected as well.

Personally, I don't bear any malice to the folks that work there at Ambetter. They really tried to help but they weren't given the appropriate venue to succeed or to be honest. That's what Ambetter is. And the only person who was penalized by all this was a 2 year old boy. If you have kids ... don't walk away, run.

    Anesthesia not covered, October, 2018

I felt I had done a good job verifying my doctors were in the plan and my likely hospitals were in plan. I unexpectedly had to have surgery for a kidney stone only to find the anesthesiologist was not in the plan so this expense is not covered. Even did a pre-authorization before the procedure.

    Corruptly legal, July, 2018

This company is just in business because of our crooked government requirements.

No one with any options should choose this. It isn't insurance. It is just a racket.

I can't even use it in urgent care, because the cost of seeing a doctor with this insurance, costs more than seeing them without it. I have to use cash.

This company is taking advantage of legal requirements which allow them to steal money from people.

This is an experience that will influence all political actions in my future. I will never forget this.

Guilty of Fraud - Horrible Company, June, 2018

They deny coverage for anything and everything. Took months to get them to approve my medication, then when I went to pick it up at the pharmacy, I learned that it would cost over $900 a month because Ambetter wasn't covering the entire cost of the med. So now my doctor is trying to get another medicine approved but the doctor's office is also getting the run-around from Ambetter. Stay far away from this insurance. You'd probably save money by paying for more expensive insurance with another company. It's worthless insurance. You pay your premiums and get nothing in return!!!!

    Dragging their feet, June, 2018

It took 3 months for them to review my prior authorization request and subsequent appeal after they denied first request for my brand-name antidepressant, the only one that works for me - and in 23 years I've tried all of them. After they approved it, I went to the pharmacy to fill it and learned it would cost $1000. Now I'm trying to get the short-acting version of that med approved and they've been reviewing it for 6 weeks. So the year is half over and I'm still paying $680 a month for my doctor's second choice medication for me. Pretty soon I will have to try something else even though I've tried everything and none of it works.
