WASTE OF MONEY!!!, July, 2016
Aflac is an absolute waste of money and time. The agents and customer service reps are mostly not on one accord. I have been trying to process one claim for 6 months. I had a CT scan for headaches (which the scan came back normal). First they wanted proof and results, sent that. 4 weeks later I received a letter saying they wanted my doctor notes and 12 month records, sent that. 4 weeks later I received another letter stating they want 2 years worth of records to rule out pre-existing conditions. Pre- existing??? Really?? From a normal Scan you must rule out pre-existing? all this for $150..Its more but I will just leave it at that

Horrible experience. The Sales Representative sold me a short-term disability policy for when the time came for me to have a baby and leave my job. The time came, I had a c-section, had to recover 6-8 weeks, and then Aflac denied me the ability to use my short term disability which the representative specifically stated this policy was for. I called my assigned representative and he no longer worked for Aflac. I was given no notice. Ladies beware, they'll try to sell you anything as that's their job is to sell (and they'll make it sound so easy) but zero follow through will occur when you need to use the policy. You will be denied over something you were promised would be a clear cut, simple process. Do NOT count on this money. Have a backup.

After my husband died they have done nothing but play games with my payments. They made them out to an estate which did not exist and now, after two months of trying to get a new check I need to go to Probate. HELLO AFLAC??That is why you assign a beneficiary..to avoid probate. you are a terrible company to deal with my husband died and you do nothing but play games about it!! I could not look myself in the mirror if I were an employee of yours. It would make me sick to my stomach to have to lie to people the way your employees do. No one with a conscience could do this job! I thought the customer service was good until I found out that all they do it lie!

Would not stop making deductions from my pay.
Our company requited it be stopped 3/1/2016...however months later deductions were still coming out. They were supposed to reimburse me for all of this time in the amt. of $170.40 / I rec'd a check in the mail on 8/24/2016 in the amt. of $36.15... Go figure! I would not recommend AFLAC to friends or relatives. They do not respond to claims.

Agent and regional manager Kevin Curtis out of Reno, NV has returned a phone call once with me making at least 10 phone calls. He claims he thought someone else was helping me. It was over 2 weeks before the one and only call was made. My accident occurred May 14th, 2016 and it is August 15th and he still has not contacted me. He is supposed to be a regional manager. What a bad example he is to other agents and a very poor reflection on AFLAC. The one and only time we spoke I was told he would handle everything and I would be well taken care of with no worries. It is obvious he does not stand by his words and I am baffled this is a manager let alone a regional manager.

Stepped into a pothole and broke Metatarsals bon in my right foot.
Aflag turned my claim down, stating this is not considered an accident.
10 weeks in black boot. out of about $500 for boot and 4 Doctors visits and 1 urgent care visit.
Never had a claim with them before and will cancel and go with diff. company.
Never had a broken bone either in my whole life.
After I called them and explained again what happened, they still turned me down.
How in the world do you break a bone on purpose???

I took out ST Disability insurance back in July 2017. Had to use it February for foot surgery. All documentation was sent over February 20. Said they needed copy of W2. Sent that. Then said they need Employers Verification which was sent on the 20th. They keep telling me review is pending and my $$ should be in my account 24-48 hrs. I call twice day. It’s either the same crap as previously stated OR there is no record of any claims received in the last 14 days. WTH!! My representative tells me she is working diligently on it. I have to believe her, but she says there’s nothing else she can do except to have it expedited, which is what I’ve been told since 3/5. My bills are past due now. I was told I would have my $$ in 7-10 days from filing. It’s tough when you live paycheck to paycheck as I know many of us do. Just disgusted by all of this. Had I known, I would have never had the surgery. Aflac made it sound so easy. Shame on them. But shame on me for being so gullible.

I have submitted 2 claims with Aflac 1. regarding an accident, and the other regarding a death.
Both times they have made this process miserable. Not only does it take an act of God to get them to cover a claim. They require that you do all of this while you are grieving a loss.
As if you do not already have enough on your mind to deal with. I would send information, forms, documents several times, and always they needed more.
Do yourself a big favor and DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!!

Terrible Claims Processing, January, 2018
I had surgery and needed to use my short term disability that I have been paying for three years. I have never filed a claim so this was my first. It took forever to get through to a human . Hold times were between 40-60 minutes, or an automated message would come on saying they will call you back and you won't lose your place in line and that never happened. I finally got through to a Customer Service rep named Wintress who was the only good thing about this experience. She sent me the documents I needed to file my first claim. I faxed it my documentation on January 18, today is the 26th. It is still not showing online! Processing claims in 4 days? Bologna! Now they have all kinds of excuses... MLK day delayed processing, snow in Georgia last week delayed processing, now today, they told our rep (that claims processing is running 7-10 days behind.
But they obviously can't do the math because they set my claim to be reviewed on 2-1, that is 14 days after receiving the paperwork. Then how long after that will they pay? 4 days, 7 days?? meanwhile I went without pay because I had some stupid false sense of security thinking that AFLAC was a company with integrity that actually did what you paid them to do. Well they don't. I would highly suggest if you are looking for a short term disability company, look elsewhere. Aflac has horrible call centers, long customer wait times, apparently only one person there actually cares about her job, and they absolutely falsely represent how they process their claims. They don't care because they already have your money and they don't care that you aren't getting paid.

My husband signed up for short term disabilty, however the agent really signed him up for hospital and accidental insurance. I feel as though we have health insurance for a reason, we don't need hospital and accidental. His employer did not offer disability coverage so we wanted to be covered just in case. I wanted to make a change to the policy and that is how I found out we had be fraudulently signed up for something else. I contacted the regional manager about this, he now will NOT answer or respond back to me.

I was diagnosed with cancer and even though I have good health insurance coverage, it's amazing how many co-pays and fees are involved. Co-pays for surgeries and tests can be high not to mention all the other little things that will bury you...taxis, parking, meds. I've only been submitting bills for a couple of months, but so far they have paid what I asked for after I submitted the correct paperwork. Enough for my extras plus a little cushion. If anything changes, I will update my review.
As it stands now, I highly recommend.

I had AFLAC for short term disability thru my job and I had to have surgery which I was to be out of work for 3 weeks and they denied my claim. They jerked me around for 3weeks so they wouldn't have to honor the policy which states that in case of injury they would help pay my salary while I was off?! In the policy it states they would? But they denied my claim after receiving all requested info?? I wouldn't trust this company total scam!!! They left me struggling to pay my bills while I recovered from surgery!!!!!

I was a bit on the fence when looking into AFLAC because of all the negative reviews I've read. However, I took it upon myself to actually do some research myself and actually READ the policies and its "loopholes".
I was in full understanding of what was and "wasn't" permitted, and what documents would be needed in order to process a claim promptly. (I also have a great agent that answered every question with ease)
So, if you're thinking about AFLAC, be aware of your policy, and make sure you understand it. If not, ask your agent! They should be able to help you. I've filed 4 claims and they were all reviewed and paid out within 7...yes, 7 days! I don't regret, and will continue my policy!

We have been paying our Aflac through payroll deduction. Have never been late or missed a payment.
Now comes a time when we need to file a claim, and guess what. Paper work gets "lost", or is not filed out completly by the Dr. Any and every excuse. The 10 day payout.....A BLEEPING LIE!!!! It has been over 6 weeks and now they say the never recieved the HIPPA paper work. Please understand, they didn't contact me I had to call them to find this out! So I not only emailed the paperwork in, but also faxed the very same day. I have confirmation from both, a read email reciept and fax confirmation, that both were opened and read. Called a week later and was told by the phone agent, Nope don't have them. This is after being told they were recieved, but not "scanned in yet".
Aflac is very good at taking your money, but when it comes time to pay will do anything and everything to get out of paying. We have asked to speak to a supervisor and the attutide is if you don't like "oh well". Move along next! Well this person is going to engage legal recourse next. They know they can't deny the claim, because it is clearly within our policy, so the make it so diffuclt and hope we quit. That is not going to happen. We haven't paid our premiums for two years only to quite trying to file the claim. I really believe these people are the soical security rejects!
Aflac, I have a suggestion. Stop spending so much on TV commericals and start using that monet to keep the customer you already have. This is nothing more than a ponzi scheme. I fully intend to file with not only a local attorney to force them to cover, but also with my states attorney general to investagate. Nothing will come of it, but if enough people realize Aflac is a ponzi scheme, they just might start doing what they are paid to do.

Was talked into getting all they had to offer under the premise it would be useful for my situation. However, since getting the policy it has become clear to me that customer service/satisfaction is not a concern of theirs. Now they wont let me cancel the policy until November! So I guess im forced to pay them for services not rendered. Friends dont let friends sign up for aflac.

Keep reading other stories that sound just like mine. I have most every health policy offered by aflac but when I submit a claim the roller coaster begins. More and more documentation is requested. I supply. They ask for more. 3 months and still no payment from them. They owe me 2 days hospital confinement. Several tests and Dr visits. But no. No payments. Time to call for legal help

What a hassle to get paid for a claim. Supplemental insurance sounds great but if they don't pay your claim it sucks. And they don't pay the claims. They keep telling you they need something else and it is total BS. If my Aflac is supplemental why do they need to see what my health insurance carrier paid? Only reason us to delay or deny payments. Aflac is nothing but a lie... they say payout and receive a check within 4 days...Huh in what world?? I've been out of work since April 13 and I paid extra for short-term disability to make sure I get paid starting 7 days on illness/1 day accident just incase anything may happen in the future. WHAT A JOKE... I have been taken off of work by the doc for medical reasons and its been 3 months and still not a damn dime. No one returns calls and they keep saying the same BULLSHIT story. Aflac keeps requesting more and more Information in which I give to them immediately and still NOTHING! I call every 3 days and no one can give me any answers, all they continue to tell me is... it's under review with the auditor, there's more info needed (which they already have EVERYTHING from my doctor), or... no need to keep calling just check the website. It doesn't matter what I do I STILL get no answers to when this will be settled. Again, I haven't had any money coming in since April. RIDICULOUS! My next step is contacting all social media... FACEBOOK YELP CHANNEL 13 & A LAWYER I'm so done with the lies and BULLSHIT! I will tell everyone I know and drag this company to the ground. AFLAC FALSE ADVERTISES and need to get their shit together... hell I can't even get my representative to do anything in the office as calls are screened and very rarely get a call back. I am dealing with a dentist who kept my AFLAC benefits even though I didn't owe them any money. After pointing out the errors in the dentist's ledger to the customer service rep, my case was finally sent to the Fraud Dept. It has been over 2 months and I haven't heard a word and am still out $80.
I was very pleased with the last customer rep I spoke too but it appears the reps tell you whatever they think you want to hear. There were many conflicts on what they told the dentist's office and what they told me. Nobody seems to want to take care of the problem.

Purchased cancer insurance, small premium, tied to a credit card and promptly forgot it. Few years later received cancer diagnosis, surgery and lifetime chemo. Aflac did what they said they would do. A true "stand up" company.

AFLAC charged my company for an extra month for one of our employees due to AFLAC's error. After more than four months they have still not issued a refund. We have heard many excuses and have jumped through many hoops, but no results.

not happy with it..i have been from doctor to doctor with the same issue and they knew about it.my last visit to my doctor went for a injection on my neck i try to explain to the person who handle the claim the it was something different from before i have to explaim over and over again and no result i got so mad the i never did the claim.in the mean time this people take your money every week and they don't have aproblem with it.but when is time for you to make a claim is a problem.i don't think it work if you think about it every week they take your money and you can only claim a few time..so where is the rest of the money go...i can't way for my contrac to be over ...never again is a scan.....

I needed two knee surgeries. 1st surgery was on march 20,2018, claim paid ok. 2nd. surgery was on Sept. 25, 2018. The person that reviewed the 2nd. claim thought it was the 1st surgery being claimed again. That person talked to the agent and the doctor's office and was told that it was the second knee and they still denied the claim. The Aflac agent (Theresa Johns) and on 10/12/18 filed an appeal. This is insane. I did nothing wrong and yet Aflac is taking forever to review 2nd. claim and it is not my fault.

Husband broke his leg, in the hospital 2.5 days. Aflac paid everything they said they would and quickly.
ALSO, when my husband was deployed overseas, Aflac PAID his insurance while he was gone for one year! Kept it in force and told me if anything happened to him in Kuwait, he'd be covered and receive Aflac's benefits! WOW! Who does that?!
Just wish Aflac was available to private individuals, as his current company doesn't offer it, sad.
