Is Travelers a good insurance company?

1 Answer

0 votes

Travelers Insurance is the second largest issuer of personal insurance policies in the United States, and holds the number 89 position on the Forbes top 500 companies. What is unusual about Travelers is that they have achieved such a high ranking even though their policies are largely sold through independent agents rather than dedicated sales. In 2006, Travelers was purchased by the MetLife Insurance group, but has retained their operating name.

Financial Rating
As an owned subsidiary of MetLife, Travelers Insurance shares the same financial ratings. According to A.M. Best Ratings Company, MetLife holds an A+ rating, which means that that company is considered stable but has some room for investment. For personal insurance policies, an A+ rating is probably sufficient, but investors may want to investigate further before making a final decision. However, MetLife is the largest underwriter of insurance policies in the world, and that means you have little to fear from Travelers Insurance, as they have more than 520 billion in verifiable assets to back them up.

Customer Satisfaction
Travelers Insurance is well known as a dependable and trustworthy company. Online reviews and polls back that up, showing more than 38% of those polled reported satisfactory relations. For an online customer rating, that is a high number, as many companies are rated more often by unhappy customers than by those who have had favorable results.

Travelers Insurance Reviews Customer Availability
Travelers Insurance is available in all 50 contiguous states. Because of that, you can rest assured that no matter where you move to, Travelers Insurance can be there to provide you the same protection and friendly service you received before.

The Bottom Line
The bottom line is fairly simple. Travelers Insurance is now a subsidiary of MetLife, and has a long history of customer satisfaction. With the power of the world's largest insurance underwriter to back them up, it is a safe bet that Travelers will be doing business for many years yet to come.
