My truck was stolen and all my tools inside the job box’s as well, I know Insurance co will only cover 2500 cause there tools and consider them to be business related, here’s my question. #1 my dad died and I inherited some tools as well, very close to my heart and were only in the truck cause he had just died. They are obligated to cover that right? #2. If this put me out of work and made me move are they responsible to help in loss of wages or moving expense”

If your truck and tools have been stolen, you may have coverage under your insurance policy for certain losses, such as loss of wages and moving expenses. However, the specific coverage will depend on the terms of your policy and the circumstances of the theft. Here are some things to consider:

  • Tool coverage: If your tools were stolen, your insurance company may only cover a portion of the cost. This is because tools are often considered business property, and insurance policies may have lower limits for business-related items. However, if you inherited some tools from your father and they were inside the truck at the time of the theft, you may be able to make a case that these tools have sentimental value and should be covered. You should check your policy for specific terms related to coverage for tools.
  • Loss of wages: If the theft of your truck and tools causes you to miss work and lose wages, you may have coverage under your policy. This coverage is typically referred to as "loss of use" coverage or "loss of income" coverage. However, the specific terms and limits of this coverage will depend on your policy. You should contact your insurance company to find out what your options are for making a claim.
  • Moving expenses: If the theft of your truck and tools causes you to move, you may also have coverage under your policy for moving expenses. Again, the specific terms and limits of this coverage will depend on your policy. You should contact your insurance company to find out what your options are for making a claim.
  • Deductibles: It's important to remember that most insurance policies have deductibles, which are the amounts you are responsible for paying before the insurance coverage kicks in. You should check your policy for information on deductibles and how they apply to different types of claims.
  • Documentation: When making a claim for theft, it's important to provide as much documentation as possible, including police reports and receipts for any stolen items. This will help to ensure that your claim is processed quickly and efficiently.
In summary, if your truck and tools have been stolen, you may have coverage under your insurance policy for losses such as loss of wages and moving expenses. However, the specific coverage will depend on the terms of your policy and the circumstances of the theft. You should contact your insurance company as soon as possible to make a claim and provide any necessary documentation.
