Trumbull Insurance is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Hartford Insurance Group. As a member of the Hartford Group, Trumbull Insurance provides underwriting for all of the parent company's home insurance policies. This allows Hartford to supply a wide range of insurance products through various specialized policy writers.

Financial Rating
Trumbull Insurance is not rated as a standalone entity by companies like the A.M. Best ratings company. Instead, Trumbull Insurance inherits the financial rating of the parent company, Hartford Insurance, a company with more than 2 billion dollars in assets. In March of 2012, the Best company put Hartford under review, listing them as rated "A" (excellent) and a long term stable outlook of "a+." Being under review means that AM Best retains the right to raise or lower ratings when the review has been completed.
