   He understands the ins and outs of the unique situation I have with my car insurance.

   I found Fred through a Google search. I don’t own a car but am required to drive for work. Due to an accident years ago, I am required to have an SR-22 on file with the state where I live in order for my driver’s license to remain valid, and Fred and his agency specialize in writing policies for people in a situation like mine. I had heard that it was possible to get a policy that only covered me as a driver, without protection for any particular vehicle and that such a policy would be cheaper than a standard policy, even with my SR-22 requirement. I had called several other places, but none of them were willing to write a non-owner policy.

   Through some searching, I came across Ultracar, Fred’s agency, and gave him a call. I was expecting to talk to a customer service person in a big office somewhere, but I got Fred’s personal voicemail and left a message. It turns out that Ultracar is a small, family-owned and operated agency that handles everything themselves. Within 30 minutes, he had called me back and after asking a few quick questions told me that not only could he issue me a non-owner policy, but he gave me a quote and told me that coverage would be effective immediately if I decided I wanted the policy.

   To me, being speaking to an actual agent that knew the business and could answer questions beyond just what the computer told him was a great experience. Without a way to get to his office, I thought it would be a long process of waiting for him to mail me documents to sign and then mailing them back, but he walked me through the process of electronically signing everything online and making my payments on the insurance carrier’s website. He even covered the information I needed to know about how the SR-22 would be filed and what I needed to do to make sure that there was never a lapse in coverage, which would cause my license to be suspended.

   I feel like he really went above and beyond in making sure I knew what to do and in helping me get a policy that covered me and was affordable. “
