I had age-related issues when I decided to buy flood insurance, and I looked around for an agent who not only sold affordable flood insurance, but who would also be willing to send a rep out to my home do do the papers. Mr. Streets send his rep, Cindy, and she went online to gather the necessary information and then we completed the paperwork. She explained to me that the payments with FEMA, which is actually the most reasonably priced flood insurance, is payable annually. Even though they recently raised rates, they’re still the most reasonable option for flood insurance, which is $171/yr for 2016 to 2017 versus other options starting at $400/year. I was very satisfied with Farmer’s rep expertise and the willingness of the company to make a house call, and, of course, I’m relieved to have flood insurance coverage because I live one mile from the Pacific Ocean. Like most homeowner’s insurance, my basic homeowner’s insurance does not include flood loss due to tsunami, and that insurance company didn’t tell me so. I accidently found out that that’s the case that most insurance companies do not automatically offer riders for ocean floods or earthquakes, and apparently they assumed I wouldn’t be interested in knowing those coverages.
