AARP Auto Insurance for Seniors
Auto insurance is necessary for everyone who drives a motorized vehicle, including seniors, but AARP can help retirees with getting the coverage they need at a price that fits a limited budget. The AARP auto insurance program is designed especially for AARP members and provides discounts for eligible applicants that you may not have known were even available. And because you need coverage you can depend on, AARP has teamed up with The Hartford Insurance Company, guaranteeing that your insurance is backed by a leader in the insurance field.
Car insurance for seniors is available to AARP members who are aged 50 or more. Purchasing AARP insurance provides members with complete auto coverage and benefits that are not available through other insurance offerings. In addition to the many discounts available, AARP auto insurance offers a number of company-specific benefits such as automatic policy renewal.
AARP auto insurance discounts include discounts available for all drivers such as the discounts available for living in a low-crime zip code, discounts for married persons, and safe driver discounts. Additionally, AARP auto insurance offers discounts such as disappearing deductibles, RecoverCare, accident forgiveness, lifetime renewability and 12 month rate protection.
To get AARP car insurance quotes, you must be 50 years old or older, and a licensed driver in your state of residence. AARP auto insurance will also allow you to add other drivers to your policy who are under age 50, including your spouse or dependents who still live at home. In order to be eligible for accident forgiveness, disappearing deductibles and other AARP auto insurance discounts, you must be free of accidents and major traffic violations for a minimum of 1 to 5 years, depending on the discount in question.
Additional AARP auto insurance discounts are available for members who participate in the AARP Driver Safety Program. This program is offered in 35 states and requires the enrollment and completion of a driver safety course. In 21 states, the course can be completed online. To find out what discounts and other options are available in your area, contact the organization and ask about their AARP vehicle insurance program.
